Do any of you experience something disengaging in a MT transmission around 1.1-1.2K rpm when slowing down from higher speeds? I noticed that when I drive let's say 40MPH in 4th gear and slow to a traffic stop, when the rpms drop to around 1.1-1.2K rpm, I can feel something in the transmission disengaging. It's noticable because the car kinda lurches forward a bit. Anyone know what this is? TIA.

yes, several people, including myself, experience this. i can only rely on the reassurance from seniors on this board that this is "normal" so i don't worry <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/rolleyes.gif" BORDER="0">

It's probably only the decel fuel cutoff dropping below it's rpm range and re-introducing fuel for idle.

I don't know the names of auto parts, sorry, but I think that's normal in most cars as there is a certain point where the gear wheel is spinning at the same rate as the other wheel (no clue what the name is) so there is a point where it feels like your car is "floating" at a particular RPM.

Thanks for all the replies gentlemen. Makes me sleep better tonight knowing it's not something related to the axle spline or whatnot.
