I was coming back from a trip and had the the car loaded with luggage, full tank of gas,and my wife and son . We were on the FL turnpike doing about 85mph. I look in the rear view mirror and see a little blue car coming up fast . It was a Honda Civic Si with a carbon fiber hood and a loud FART tube. The honda rides up next to me for a mile or so then lets off the gas then he guns it. I let him get about 1 car in front before I gun it. I thought for sure that the civic would leave me behind! I am still one car behind and at 110 mph start to catch up.By this time my wife said " I think you proved your point".I wish I could of seen the look on his face when he couldn't shake a four door family car and see me catching him !!!!!!!!

HAHA! Great story Jesse. People really underestimate these cars. I've had a couple experiences like that on the highway, FL Turnpike is great, but if you want to have some REAL fun then go to Alligator Alley, that's killer!

I was about to call BS, but then saw the hp/tq specs on the '97 850. Didn't know the GLT had more than the base 850. An 850 with the 168hp powerplant (my ex-gf had a '94) would make a nice little snack for even a stock Civic Si.
Good kill. Show the ricers who's boss, I always do

EDIT: Don't you hate it when you have someone with you (i.e. your wife or girlfriend) screaming to stop because they get scared?
I mean my last girlfriend would start screaming as soon as my foot touched the gas, before I was 5mph above the speed limit. Then 2 weeks ago I was trying to race a Mercedes C32 AMG but had to stop because I seriously thought my friend was going to literally $hit his pants right then and there.

Man, everyone thinks those C-series are super fast... I raced a C43 AMG in my 850, a quick 30 to 90 sprint, and kept up with him, then I let off, he kept going. Of course, my car's not stock, but the AMG name carries much more prestige than it ought to for the C-series. As for the CLK and CL series, those are incredible cars.

With the mods I have on my Stang, it would be close.
EDIT: My stang's best run was 14.3 @ 98 bone stock, then after the addition of the Flowmaster exhaust and CAI it ran a best of 13.88 @ 100.67. Since the 13.8 run I have added a 70mm TB and I plan on installing an off-road H-pipe and ditching the stock Goodyears in the next few months. My goal is to hit at least a 13.5 by the end of the summer.
I also have a CB Radio (run through the factory AM/FM antenna), short shifter, indiglo guages, some semblance of a system, and a bobbing-head dog on the dash, but those don't really make the car faster

It wasn't new, it was like a 97, 98, or 99... not sure, but it wasn't THAT, THAT fast...
Man, those Mustang's can go really really fast, do you plan on putting a blower on it?

Oh yeah... duh...
While we are on the topic of fast mercedes, have you guys seen the new SL55???? Wow... The new Top Gear has a test with it and the new 911TT and it won! I guess 476.1hp and 516.3 ft lbs of blown V8power could do that. Of course the porsche was faster in the twisties, but the SL would always pull on it in the straghts. They also thought the SL looked better. That would be a tough choice for me. The MB will be more rewarding on the highways (and is faster with a hardtop convertible), but the Porsche will be more fun in the twisties. Both have really good aftermarkets (Brabus and Techart)... oh... if only the price was $100k cheaper... I can still dream anyway.

Man, I would go for the Porsche TT anyday, AWD, and a 6-speed manual tranny is WAY more fun, than a RWD automatic... IMO. Plus, I love the style of the Carreras... of course, the Boxster's were a waste of time, and money.

There are no tires made to carry a car that heavy to those speeds. Ironic huh?
