I'm finally leaving Florida. We've been here for 4 years, and I never really got used to it. I'm originally from Chicago, and I'll be moving back in mid October.
I can't wait, really - We've got a place in the city - Wicker park very close to downtown at Damen/Milwaukee (I can walk to the blue line in under two minutes) and I'll have a garage for my R and the MINI. The location is perfect for the wife and as she will be really close to her office and the hospital (she's a doc).
I also can't wait for the extra 40hp the R will have (and probably the MINI too) with the lower temps in the fall and winter.
So if you see a Black V in the city with a takspeed logo front and back, give a wave.

I'll be down here for the 12 hours of Sebring pretty regularly though, and I'll of course still be on the forum. Did you ever get the aquamist installed? How do you like it?

Going on Saturday night when I get back from my Grandmothers 93 birthday party! It will be installed along with the NX Nitrous kit I have sitting in my garage.
Make sure you give me a ring when you make it down. It is to bad you are leaving in October. In November Doc, Charles and I are going up to the newly repaved Roebling road for the Porsche outing. That should be a lot of fun.

Re: Moving to Chicago (Grendel)

Steve,
Glad I got to meet you in Gainesville before you're heading north. I grew up in the Chicago area - I like it but don't miss the winters. Everybody (I know) who goes to Chicago loves the downtown - there's really no place like it. Last time I was there, I was looking for a restaurant (been away for too many years) and was just looking around when a guy comes up to me and asks me if he can help me find someplace - and he knew the place! I think it's gotten friendlier over the years.
We'll miss you down here!

Re: Moving to Chicago (Grendel)

Welcome (back) to town - will definately be on the lookout - if you see a moosed 04 silver VR, give a wave.
On a side note, I had one of those great car-enthusiast bbs moments ; I was posting about the USA SPEC iPod adaptors, and doug (i've momentaryily forgotten his handle here) suggested we meet up to installmine, as he'd done, like, 20 installs of these. Off I drive to Lisle, IL (about 45 miles) to meet up with him, and brought along my waiting to be installed power folding mirrors.
In short, I show up, and we proceed to spend 2 hours tearing the door panels off, pulling the radio and ac, and when it was all done, I had all my new goodies installed for a half a case of beer (to be fair, it was high life, the champagne of beers).
Doug, an open thank you - I want everyone to know that you're the kind of SS member that makes spending time trolling this board (and listening to JRL and R Kelly school noobish posters ) so rewarding. You rock.
And so does my R, with the totally worth it USA Spec iPod adapter and power folding mirrors. The mirrors were expensive, but for me (who, as a child, was entertained by a light switch - on, off. on, off.) very enjoyable.
Love this board.
-I

Re: Moving to Chicago (LawyeRRR)

Those folding mirrors sound really cool - I think that would be more of a need than a want on some streets. I have the USA Spec ipod adapter as well (installed it myself with a bit of beer and profanity) and it works really well. I usually change the volvo playlists every week or so, so I have something different to listen to. Being back in the city again though, I'll actually be able to listen to the radio again - 93xrt

My inlaws live in Wheeling and I have lots of friends there. I went to podiatry school and did my residency in Chicago. Any excuse to come up is welcome. I'll bring my sonic blue moosed/takspeed S60R.

Re: Moving to Chicago (soledoc)

Podiatry school? Soledoc? Oh! I get it! Haha!
By the way, if you are looking for a gathering place in the Wheeling area, I would recommend Bob Chin's Crab House on Rt 45 just south of Dundee Rd. My favorite restaurant in the world. One of the to five or ten establishments on a volume basis in the US.

Re: Moving to Chicago (dugums)

You guys pick a date and I'm sure I can make it. I know my wife will jump at the chance to come home and see her friends and family.
The only problem is that I have a kid and a dog (vizsla) that would also have to come and I'd want to bring my S60R instead of the old '98 V70R.
