Rumors have been going around about this car "the more powerful C70" even before the car was launched. The 220 T5 was said not to be the most powerful in the C70 lines..<br>Rumors on many volvo related forums, including this one, from members who are supposingly volvo insiders are still give us indirect hints about the car.. Some even said it is coming but did not specify when and how much more power will it be.<p>Many Volvo enthusiasts really like the C70 but are considering otherwise because of the underperformer T5 engine.. The car is just too heavy for it.<p>So Volvo insiders or Volvo employees (Yannis and others) please tell us is this car coming? If yes when? And if you can how much more power should be expect.<p>The 1st generation C70 was first launched with a LPT engine producing 193bhp, less than a year later the HPT T5 240bhp was there for people to buy.

I did not beat her by a lot but it was very clean. I, seriously, thought that on Saturdday I would have lost to her for the first time. Somehow, I just did not think the C70 would have pulled it off.<p>Yannis

0-62mph 7.6s for the manual is not that great these days.. Its not slow but its not competing with other cars.<br>A4 has the 3.2L ~260bhp now (If I am not mistaken)<br>New 3 series drop top will have the 3.0L 258bhp + hardtop<br>9-3 droptop has 250bhp<br>CLK has 3.5L 272bhp<p>All are in the price range of the C70 (world wide) and the C70 only has 220bhp and its not lighter than the above mentioned cars + it has a Turbo which means performance is even reduced during hot summers.<p>I beleive that the C70 (along side the CLK) are the most beautiful of the bunch. And for a convertible you might not need much more than the 220bhp. But as a Volvo enthusiast who would love to stay with Volvo and wants a 2 door car, he would like for it to have more power. Remember, one of the reasons Volvo opt for the hardtop is to make 1 car rather than making 2 (coupe/conv) meaning that this car will have to live up for both Coupe and Cov customers, and for Coupe customers this car is lacking power.<br>BMW 3 coupe will get the 3.0L 258 bhp and on the cov (hardtop) too. Let alone the new 300bhp Twin turbo I6..<p>So to come out and ask a comparable price to a 330Ci or A4 3.2 or SAAB aero you will need to give power comparable to them.

The Saab 9-3 2.8T Aero convertible was in a test against the new C70 T5. <p>0-100 Km/h = 7.8s (for both) And it was raining like h***. They said that they easily could get .4-.5 sec better times on dry.<p>As for the pricing. A CLK 350 costs $35k MORE than the C70 where I live. The Audi and the Saab also costs more than the C70. And I still don't see why you need more than 220 hp when you are cruising in a convertible.<BR><BR>

For a Conv 220bhp is ok, but since Volvo does not have a coupe version a more power engine is really needed.<p>I did mention that the CLK350 was more expensive!!<p>We did not receive the C70 here yet so I cannot put an accuarate comment on that, but from what I mean reading about it world wide price is very comparable with the SAAB aero and the A4.

Is it more important to have a fast coupé? It has less hp, but more tourqe than the old C70 coupé. And the new T5 fits the car a lot better.

Answer = Yes <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/cool.gif" BORDER="0"> The choice should be there, whether a person get to chose it or not is upto them.<p>Old C70T5 Coupe MT:<br>Max output = 240bhp<br>Max torque = 330Nm<br>0-100km/h = 6.8s<br>Top speed = 250km/h electronically limited<p>New C70T5 MT:<br>Max output = 220bhp<br>Max Torque = 320Nm<br>0-100km/h = 7.6s<br>Top speed = 235km/h<p>I know that people will come out saying you are comparing Coupe to Conv,,,, yes yes I know but as I was saying before this new C70 has to live up for both Coupe and Conv customers and to have a previous generation which is faster is not the right direction to go.

I've almost test driven the new C70. my reservation was failed because they could only bring a private car but anyways, IMO , this car with the added weight needs at lest 260 hp to become competive. the torque is ok but even that could step up. I'd say give the C70 260-300 hp and 400+ nm and this would be real sweet. still nice just could use a tablespoon more power.

In some pictures the C70 has two tailpipes (one on each sides) on others it has none. Why is that?

The car looks absolutely fantastic with the tailpipes.<br>It has to be one of the best looking drop-tops in the market.. Can't wait to see it in person and if possible drive it.<br>I hear the 07 C70 will have AUX access, will it have the bluetooth phone connection as the new S80?

About the IPOD. Does the menu appears in the radio screen or do you have to control it using the IPOD itself? Is it like the S80 or just AUX INPUT and everything is controlled from the IPOD?
