ok besides changing filters/cold air intakes, i would think this improves air flow by cutting off one more elbow twist of air, and just opening the air box hole facing the front.
Check out the pics at my website (sig) under air tube.
I just removed one piece of plastic that i barely noticed *rolls eyes* i dont think it really does much in terms of helping air be cooler or taking cooler air off the radiator. it seems to limit the amount of air. If anyone knows if this could hurt my car, please do tell
if i were eastern aerospace.. i say it helps 5-10 Hp depending where you are hahahah

Re: More Air flow Modification #2??? (GShyneDM)

Yeah, I had that piece removed before, too. Not sure if that really helps, same goes for the horn removal. I don't know...anything helps I guess. As long as you don't put that down as one of your modification on the list, and go all out EA about it. It's all good.
BTW, the piece was there to block out larger chunks of WHATEVER from the road....so by removing it, you just might have slight higher chance to get stuff suck in there. We once took out a dried frog btwn the radiator and the bumper on my friend's 850. :D It was all crispy and done.

My friend has his turbo taken apart, to replace bearings, and his blades were all pitted. The guy told him that he must have a K&N. I guess it was letting in some real small stuff, but it was hard enough to F/U his turbo!

Maybe someone forgot to oil his K&N?
Some open element air filter doesn't need to be oil'd, but I think the K&N does.
My turbo had that same problem after I got it back from Turbochargers.com(Texas Rebuild) . Worst place you can have your turbo rebuild, they were ignorant and irresponsible. They tried to tell me that something went into my compressor while the whole thing was still using the stock airbox.
2nd time the turbo snap b/c it wasn't assembled correctly, they had no comment about it. And wouldn't even acknowledge my complaint letter. I should have my lawyer contacted them then. Whatever you do, stay away from those monkeys. Horrible service, rude manner...something that you shouldn't get when you are paying a premium to have your small factory turbo rebuilt.
