A while back, hiwind posted this picture of the interior of his car:

The shift knob is from Momo, and this place sells them:

But at the top of the page it warns that these do not fit Volvo reverse shifters. What does that mean?

Do we have to modify the shifter in any way to get them to fit? If it's an easy retrofit, I believe this guy will soon be in my possesion...

Re: Momo shift knob? (Oldman)

The Volvo reverse shifter they refer to is from the 200/700 series cars, not ours. You used to have to lift a little ring up and then pop it in reverse. Plus, they had a push button overdrive button, so aftermarket knobs were not an easy swap.

Re: Momo shift knob? (Al Canuck)

Thank you Al. I wasn't aware that Volvo had used this type of shifter in the past. I guess Momo just sold a shifter knob! http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

And don't worry about the instructions that tell you to shave down the stock T-bar (you'll know what I mean when you take the stock shifter off).....you just have to cut slits in the rubber cap that comes with the new shifter and it will slide right over.

Re: Momo shift knob? (Dede)

just a tip on interior photos , try having the steering wheel straight. not upside down. clean floor check, nice pedals check, shift knob looks sweet check, but having the steering wheel upside down throws it all off, this also implies that you parked with the wheels not straight. while extremely knit picky to some doesn't anyone else agree , a straight steering wheel in this photo would take less attention off the upside down one and more to the shift knob?
