What's allowed (or overlooked) and what voids the warranty? Any personal experiences here?

Re: Mods and Volvo CPO Warranty (TWMn)

depends on dealer and how mod friendly they are. As for the local options (Kline/Borton) I can't say as I don't have any mods, but now that i'm out of warranty that can change
someone else care to chime in

All it takes is one not so good visit at an unfriendly dealer... depends if you want to risk a black flag.

should add, i expect most unrelated mods would be overlooked, if you are having a 4c issue, intercooler or something isn't going to cause concern.

The only mod that I am waiting on is the front mount intercooler as I have read of people being denied claims on the radiator and surrounding parts, (remove the tune if and when you go in for service) if you have one that is...

Things like the intake exhaust and DP can not be used as a means to deny claims, though your aftermarket items won't be covered.

Which FMIC are you going with and are you doing the install yourself?

I see you're not too far (just a few hours north) and I am seriously considering an FMIC. http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

Moose magnets are a definite no no if you hope to keep the warranty intact.

Hey well, I am currently in Turkey but only for about 65 more days...
Then I will be there in the Mountain Home area. I have looked at the kit from Bell and the one the Phuz offers... Vector Auto Tuning makes or supplies one from MTE that is a stock replacement made from high quality aluminum. I have probably read over the Bell directions 25 plus times and am confident that I could do the install. The phuz kit though seems like a better deal but I don't think the instructions are as detailed if any. I will most likely consider either the Bell kit or the direct aluminum replacement option... I guess I'll see. Also that is cool that you are in Salt Lake... I have a few friends that live in there. I will be driving down on some long weekends to visit... I'll hit you up a few weeks before and maybe setup a mini GTG. http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

It's a crapshoot. With my T5 (CPO) I had Borton replace the tranny under warranty at 90K miles, no hassle at all, it was a bit noisy but drove fine, yet they still didn't hesitate to cover it. That car has 3 inch exhaust, EST intake, and a BSR tune (I left it on) and still no hassle on a 4K+ repair.

Now, with my R, Borton takes one look at wheel spacers and decides my wheel bearing warranty is voided. They also claim that water in my headlights that caused them to fail must have been due to me driving into a lake or something rather than a flaw in factory parts. Then they claimed that part of the AWD system that failed over a year later must have also been damaged form the same nonexistent drive in a lake. So now I go to Kline. No warranty hassles there yet (though I had the spacers off when they replaced my wheel bearings under warranty). They haven't said boo about my Kelly CAI (which they saw when they replaced the headlights that Borton wouldn't do) nor the JRL mod. Sometimes Kline screws up fixes but at least they fix it right (eventually) and don't seem to care that much about mods, at least minor ones.
