a few months ago the glass fell out of the passengers side mirror on my R. no biggie, i glued it back in. today leaving work the drivers side glass fell out onto the road and shattered. is this common at all?? can you get the glass separate or do i have to get the whole assemblies.

Just a shot in the dark here but I would assume a call to Boston Volvo Village would answer that question very quickly. I would think yes. If not I wouldn't imagine the whole assebly being very inexpensive, so I would just find a mirror shop that can make a template and cut you a peice to match off the passeger side and glue it in there after a test fit. I would probably reccomend an anti fog coating or something similar if you go with option two but hopefully you will get good news from Boston. http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

You can get the glass separately, I've done it to get a European wide-angle replacement on my driver's side... ordered from Borton, in fact. Might want to consider it for yourself since you're already in the market for a replacement.

Can someone post a step by step procedure on how to replace the glass on the driver's side mirror.
I got the new glass but have no clue how to take the old one out without breaking it.

got the glass today from Hughes Volvo. they had it in stock. now im gonna figure out how to put it in.

got it on. took about 20 minutes until i figured out how i could get it back in.

+1, passenger side, couple months ago. Had dealer replace with new glass.
