I don'tknow if this was addressed b4, but do we know what the MPG estimates are for the 2.5T & the 2.9T?
Also, what is estimated to be the 0-60mph time for each engine, as well as the 60-0 braking diatance?
Thanks.

Estimated fuel economy from Volvo as EPA hasn't done a rating yet.
2.5T = 24mpg
T6 = 21mpg
Acceleration 0-60mph (preliminary figures)
2.5T = 9.3 seconds
T6 = 8.7 seconds
Top Speed = limited to 128mph
Volvo has not yet provided us with braking distances.
[This message has been edited by [email protected] (edited 08-21-2002).]

Thanks, George. Boy, you're a wealth of info!
Wow, goes to show just how much weight can degrade acceleration - the T6 in the S80 goes 0-60 in 6.6 secs, yet it's 2 sec's slower in the XC90 due to the extra 1,000 lbs of weight. Maybe they should bump it up to 300 hp / 320 tq.
Still, that's about 0.6 of a second faster than my Jeep, even with all of my mods.

Well, two things to consider. First, for those who buy a T-6, I'd bet IPD will be offering an ECU upgrade for the car at some point if you simply must have more power.
Also, there are unconfirmed rumors of a Yamaha developed V8 for the XC90 and S80. I asked about it while with Volvo in California and the only response was, no comment....but, that if they were to do an 8cyl, it'd have to show a significant improvement over the T-6 to make it worthwhile. Hmmmmm.
