Anyone interested in getting together to show off the midwest's Rs? I've been trying to get my local hoosier chapter of VCOA but haven't had much luck. Maybe you R guys in IN, MI, Chicago, OH, KY could come up with some more enthusiasm for a meet. I'd love to see some of you SS R guys and have a meet or drive somewhere around the midwest. Thoughts????
It seems like we're always left out. There's a big east coast group and west coast group that meets.....so let's try to do the same. Maybe start at a dealership to see if they'd be willing to host?

Re: Midwest R meeting? (soledoc)

Sounds like fun! I work in a water plant and it's high demand time right now, so the timing would have to fit. Otherwise it sounds great. My only exposure to other R fans is through this forum.

Re: Midwest R meeting? (TeeRex)

I am interested, but have a tight schedule.
The burning question is: where? Ideally we'd find a place that was accessible, but offered some driving or track opportunities.
IN45 between Nashville and Bloomington is a nice ride. A bit slow, but also nice and twisty. A bit out of the way also.
Hmmm... rent one side of the autobahn country club for an afternoon and get some driving instructors to provide some instruction? Spendy, but a lot of fun, I imagine...
http://www.autobahncountryclub.net/

Re: Midwest R meeting? (vizwiz)

Yea, that's the only problem with those tracks is that they're pricey. There's one around Indy, Salem race course, but it's quite $$$.
I like the idea of driving the road between Columbus,Nashville and Bloomington IN. We could meet in Indianapolis and drive down I-65 to Columbus and then take 46 through Nashville and end up in Bloomington (where I went to school) and head back north on 37 and stay in Indianapolis for the night. Obviously that's good for me since I live here but I'm open to other thought. I'm sure my local dealer would also sponsor something and there's also a dealer in Bloomington (Royal Volvo).
Maybe let's start throwing some dates out and see what works. Say the first weekend in August (Aug 4-5)?

Re: Midwest R meeting? (soledoc)

I would definitely be interested in attending, provided the driving to and from it would fit with into weekend for me (the Midwest is a big place, especially for a transplanted European like me).
I can't say that I've driven all (or even most) interesting roads in the Midwest, but my personal favorite in Indiana is IN 135 south from Nashville, which would fit nicely with soledoc's suggestion. But since I live in Indiana, too, of course I'm biased .

Johanh,
Great to see another interested R owner in the area. Maybe we could hook up...even this weekend. I'm in Zionsville. I'd love to see your R. IN 135 is also a beautiful drive. IM me if you're interested.
Omaha to Indy would be a haul I realize. I just thought somewhere in the middle of the midwest would work out better...ie. Indianapolis.
Let's start a poll to figure out which weekend will work besy.

I'd be interested too, like everyoe else time permitting. I think there are some real scenic windy roads along the Mississippi that could be fun especially if we were to look more into fall when people might be a little less bsy. Maybe someone from over that way could advise?

Re: Midwest R meeting? (JABRD__s60R)

That also could be a good idea. I'm open to suggestions. Driving along the Mississippi river might be gorgeous. Maybe St. Louis would be the logical start/finish point. Maybe catch a baseball/football game also.
