Plans are being finalized for our 6th annual Mid State Meet-Up. The drive will be held on Saturday, October 27th. Please keep an eye out for more detailed information!
We have an exciting venue planned and we will be visiting the National Churchill Museum and the Auto World Museum, both in Fulton, MO. Hopefully you will be joining in the fun!

The 6th Annual “Mid Missouri Meet-Up”!

Get out your calendars; arrange (or re-arrange) your schedule, and get ready for another Road Trip and joint venture with your fellow Volvo enthusiasts from the Volvo Club of Kansas City.

Saturday, October 27th will find us rendezvousing with our counterparts from the western shore of the state in lovely Fulton, Missouri at the historic National Churchill Museum on the campus of Westminster College. https://www.nationalchurchillmuseum.org/about-the-winston-churchill-museum.html

Our group will take a tour of the facilities and soak up the history and significance of the site. St. Mary’s Church was designed by Christopher Wren in 1677, destroyed during the bombing of London in 1941 during World War II, and then reconstructed using 7000+ original stones moved to Fulton in 1964. Assembly completed in 1969. Westminster College is where Winston Churchill gave his famous “Iron Curtain” speech in 1946. In 1990 a sculpture known as the “Break Through” incorporating original panels of the Berlin Wall was added to the site.

Following our tour, we will then proceed to the Fulton Café for a casual and modestly priced gourmet luncheon. If you doubt me, check the menu on their web page! https://www.mkt.com/fulton-cafe-llc

Following that culinary delight, we will adjourn to the nearby Auto World Museum https://www.autoworldmuseum.com/ for a tour of that collection of vehicles of some significance – perhaps lobbying for the addition of a Volvo or two in the process.

Here is the schedule of events:

8:30am – Meet at the MODOT Commuter Parking Lot at the intersection of I-64/US-40 and MO-94. THERE ARE TWO LOTS. BE SURE TO GO TO THE CORRECT LOT: our meeting spot is the lot East of MO-94 off of Research Park Drive. See this map. It is not the lot west of MO-94.

8:45am – Depart for Fulton – we will follow scenic MO-94 most of the way. Map will be provided to attendees.

11:00am – Arrive at Westminster College, purchase tour tickets and commence the tour.
Admission to the Churchill Museum costs: $8.50 Adult. $7.50 Senior. $6.50 Children under 18.

12:30pm ± - Depart for the Fulton Café and lunch.

2:30pm – Depart for the Auto World Museum. Admission to the Museum is at the $6.00
“Group Rate”

No set time for the end of the day or any organized convoy to return to the STL Metro area. Easy access to I-70, about 5 miles north from Auto World, for those who may wish to use the Interstate Highway system.
