By popular demand, the Missouri Chapters of the Volvo Club of America are doing a repeat of the 2014 Mid-Missouri Meet-Up with a tour of the historic Missouri State Penitentiary in Jefferson City, complete with a luncheon following at the Canterbury Hill Winery & Restaurant. As the tour has a size limit, it is recommended that you go on line and purchase your tickets as soon as possible. https://www.missouripentours.com/view-tour.php?ticket=846 choosing the 11am tour on September 9th.

We are asking that you please R.S.V.P. to the club mailbox if you plan to attend and how many will be in your party. [email protected]

The Gateway Chapter will have a convoy to Jefferson City leaving at 8:30 am on Saturday, September 9th from the parking lot of the Schnuck's at I-44 and MO-109 (Eureka exit). We will assemble at 8:15am and hit the road at 8:30am. The travel time is approximately 2 hours.

This is a great “Road Trip” opportunity and a chance to see a part of Missouri’s history that most people would not get the chance to step inside of their own free will. The prison dates back to 1836 and is 100 years older than Alcatraz. It was finally closed in 2004 but remains an imposing structure - proving once and for all that “Stone Walls Do A Prison Make!”

Lunch will follow the tour at the Canterbury Hill Winery & Restaurant. We encourage you to visit their internet web site at http://www.canterburyhill.com to view the features of the establishment and check their menu.

There are no firm plans for an organized return to the St. Louis area, thus you are on your own to spend additional time in Jefferson City or spend the afternoon exploring scenic Middle Missouri.

If you do not wish to join “The Convoy” for the trip over, please meet the group at the Penitentiary prior to 11:00 am at 115 Lafayette Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101.

Again, we ask that you RSVP so we can coordinate with the Kansas City Chapter for reservations at the Winery/Restaurant.
