I'm looking to purchase an s40, but coming from a volkswagen the scene is pretty big around the Maryland/Virginia/Pennsylvania area. What is it like for Volvo's? Are there many of you? Do you guys actually have gtg's? Or is there any interest in having them?

If you set the history on this section to show all the posts, you will see we got quite a crowd here from the DC/MD/NoVA area.
We usually have GTGs when the weather gets better. You might be the only one in the crowd with an S40, but we have more C70s, V70R, few 240s, and might have a new R owner joining us soon.
We probably don't have as many memebers as the local BMW or VW/Audi guys, but we are out there. We used to have few more 850s in this area, slowly they just don't show up to all the GTGs as they used to.
But every year around early summer, we would do a bigger GTGs at Carsile, PA.

I am also a VW owner (83caddy16v on Vortex) but also love the two Volvos in our family.
Kai is the one in the area that has done many of the mods or has created a few mods for the 98-00 generation of C/S/V70s.
There are Volvo enthusiasts in the area, but finding them is a little more difficult than all the VW folks on Vortex.

Yeah, they are much smaller in number, but we still get together. It's a range of both newer cars and older RWD cars (mainly 240s).
Also look for the Carlisle Import/kit car show in May. That'll be a pretty big Volvo turnout.

I really have to start coming again. It sucks that I've missed out on so many. I feel like I check the board right after a get together takes place. I'll have to make sure to keep a look out for the next one. Man I would have loved to go to the DC auto show, it was pretty good last year. Although Volvo's display wasn't that good.
Scott

quote:
What is it like for Volvo's?

You need to go for the S60 AWD......
Winter weather gtg's could also be possible.
In Fairbanks, Alaska we didn't let a little cold weather interfere with consumption and good cheer. The AWD guys in the group especially. The next Saturday with any snow, ice or rain might be a good time to start a new trend.....
Find us a parking lot and I'll bring the cones.....Mini Autocross for time anyone? The swedes will be proud...
A little Bailey's in your coffee or tea and some meat on the grill. Some bench racin. It sounds like a cold weather tailgate party trend could break out in no time at all...
Well maybe once a year, for the pics......
