If there is only one thing I can contribute to this topic, it's microfiber towels. I love them, and never want to be without them. I figured they were snake oil when I first heard of them, but it just isn't so. I'm glad to see them for sale all over the place now. From automotive stores to Costco.
Use them to clean everything in and around your car...plus keep your computer monitor glass and eyeglasses totally clean. Clean the delicate plastic speedo cover without scratching. Nothing removes more gunk from glass or smooth plastic. Other products just chase the gunk around.
No discussion about detailing would be complete without mentioning microfiber towels. My job here is done.
- Darell

Howdy -
I've found them at Kragen Auto Supply, Costco, Long's Drugs, Safeway (all in CA), and here: http://www.properautocare.com/vipmicdetclo.html
Look around that site. They have several specialty towels. I haven't tried the "made for glass" one yet. If the regular ones clean glass so well, I'd be pretty excited to see what the special ones can do.
- Darell

Here's what you need to read to learn about these towels:
http://www.properautocare.com/micwhatbigde.html
- Darell

Wait! It get's even better. I got myself all worked up about the glass cloth so I just ordered one (along with about $70 of other stuff :). I found this discount that anybody can use: ACC200. It's only 10% off, but it almost pays for shipping.
- Darell

I use to detail for our dealership. We use Mark V detail products and let me say, after using those, to me, store bought detail products will never do. If you have ever wondered how a dealership can make a 25 year old car look showroom perfect, remember that store products aren't used. They have a site as well <A HREF="http://www.mark-v.com." I've since received my order of new towels from the detail place I mentioned. These are by far the best microfiber towels I've used or have seen. The glass one is out-of-this-world good. I usually don't get quite this excited about cleaning products, but it would be a crime not to let eveybody know how great these things are. With these new towels, I don't even use the cheap 3M ones that I have tons of...well, I keep one in the glove box for dusting the dash and/or cleaning my glasses.
- Darell
[This message has been edited by darell (edited 02-15-2001).]
