James Healy has a positive review of the new Mazda CX-7 small SUV/crossover vehicle in today's USA Today. Is there any chance Volvo might use this platform for a new XC50, 30 or small SUV? Don't the Mazda 3, European Focus and S40 share a platform? I've read that Volvo would use the small Land Rover platform.
Thanks.

So this is bigger than the Mazda5? I can't say the 5 looks pretty, but I like its platform. I think it's built off the C1 platform somehow. I'm liking crossovers. I really considered a Freestyle for a bit. NOT the Freestar minivan, the wagon-ish vehicle.

Yeah - it looks pretty sharp...but if you load it up, you're looking at low-30's for a 5 passenger crossever SUV. Assuming we add a third child, I don't know that we'd be able to buy a small SUV...we'll have to go with the XC90.

I believe the Cx-7 is based on the Mazda 6 chassis.
The Land Rover is using the Volvo P1 chassis, so will the XC50.
