is our our turbo oil cooled? I believe it is, but then what oil does it use? engine oil? just curuious because I know royal purple will lower engine temps, and in a turbo that means more power. I know its very very small gains, but less heat will also keep it all running longer.

Anyone used royal purple in there engine and had good results? I usually use mobile 1 syn with no qualms.

The factory K04 turbo is both (engine) oil and (coolant) water cooled.

The first time I used Royal Purple was also the last. The stuff is actually purple. There is something about having a colored oil that bothers me.

There are a few tests that actually prove that Royal Purple is crazy good. There's just something about that [email protected] color. I run Mobil 1, the stuff is good enough, and I'm not running anything crazy that would really benefit from a great (and extremely expensive especially when we're talking about 7 quarts for our cars) oil.

I only use Royal Purple in my car. Here are the numbers from one of my driving logs, the oil has about 4000 miles on it:

Engine coolant: 47-93C
External air temperature on that day: 25C

Coolant temperature during cruise: 87C
Coolant temperature after 100% engine load: 93C

I buy the Royal Purple 5 gallon pails (http://amzn.com/B000BO052S), which are very affordable and actually cheaper than Mobil 1 (http://amzn.com/B0033VBC14), unless you want to blow a couple thousand on something like this (http://amzn.com/B006ZIE8U4). The prices on Amazon do vary quite a bit though.
