Has anyone here had any experience with bringing any mods to Lee Volvo?
Planning to do the JRL(c) mod but the car is Volvo certified and hence has the 6 year/100k miles warranty. Obviously warranty and mods are totally up to the service manager discretion, so therefore I'm asking to see if anyone in the Boston area has had any first hand experience with Lee Volvo and mods?
I know there are other dealers in the area, but Lee is very close to our house....
So far I have only had them do the axle ping "repair" (=Loctite), which of course didn't last more than 1 month. Looking to go back at the next oil change and do Synthetic oil, gearbox oil, diff + angle gear oil change, the XC90 ping fix, and wanted to get a flavor for how they will react to a removed resonator.
Thanks in advance!
the JRL mod will not affect your warranty at all.
In order for a warranty claim to be denied, they must in-fact PROVE that the item in question caused, without a doubt, the damage. In this case, the only thing after the JRL mod is the muffler and tailpipe, and good luck trying to prove that a piece of 30" steel caused a muffler to go bad.
you are OK!

I agree this sounds pretty low risk and that it shouldn't affect your warranty, but I would not be so certain as Phuz that it cannot happen--warranty claims get inappropriately denied regularly. The question is really whether you have the energy and money to fight this sort of thing through litigation (to force them to prove that the mod caused the problem) in the off chance that it is denied.

I guess we have all heard the horror stories about service managers throwing all kinds of poop our way for mods. And the Magnuson Moss act is supposed to make the dealer prove the mod casued the defect.
Just curioous to see if anyone actually had taken a modded car to Lee.

The R sounds terrific with the resonator removed - you'll love it! Just tell them that the resonator was removed to protec thte driveshaft and to avoid the rain squeal during cold weather. While you're at it, remove the big bracket mid-car if you haven't already done so - it serves no purpose.
Lots of fluid changes - how many miles?
- Tryg

My understanding also that Volvo operates under Napoleonic Law, your modifications are deemed guilty until they are proven innocent.

Can't tell while driving normally but if reving at standstill OR making a sloppy 1-2 shift you can hear more than before. But it's very subtle, and kind of sounds cool, as long as the additional gas is burnt in te exhausrt and not in the cat, since the latter may ruin it

This is the dealer that I use for my S60R and my 98 S70T5 manual, neither of which are moded (yet). I am very interested in any experience any of you would like to share with me about them. Other than being expensive for the work performed, I have not had any complaints. I can provide my email if anyone has anything they would like to share.
