So I recently just joined swedespeed because I have alot of questions. Right now I am thinking about doing a manual or electronic boost controller on my 2006 T5. I was curious if anyone knew the limits of the stock turbo and engine regarding boost and what the factory sets it at? Also just information on the whole topic would be great, just looking into it and wondering what people thought.

Re: Manual Boost or Electric Boost Control on 2006 T5 (Volvita17)

May want to look into the tuning aspect of the S40 first as i think it would answer a lot of your questions including increasing boost pressure. IPD has a discussion sub forum that has a lot of good info and even checking tuning sites have a solid break down of how their systems work such as Rica, BSR, and IPD.

stock turbo is good for around 1 bar, but i know some tuners have pushed it up to a little over this (1.1-12. bar)
stock boost is around .67 bar.
i wouldn tbother with a EBC or MBC, i tried it on my car and it just screwed with the ECU and car went to limp mode.

Re: Manual Boost or Electric Boost Control on 2006 T5 (Mistral)

Thats what I am really worried about.....I have talked to a few buddies too and they say that it is kind of sketchy because your ecu wont know what to do, and I am not about to seriously damage my motor. I was just curious if there was a safe way to increase boost a little bit to gain some power throughout the rpm range.
