No doubt this has been discussed in the past but the search server is down.
My R lost power on the way to work. Not completely, it just drags like a dog like someone stole all the R out of it! And the temperature gauge isn't working, just reads all the way to the left like the car isn't even started. The engine sounds much rougher and when I parked it a fan was blowing very loudly, sounded awful in fact. Also, I couldn't hear the turbo spool up, perhaps a slight whine but certainly not normal sounding.
Sounds like a trip to the dealer is in order? Bummer if so considering they're 80 miles away.
Thanks guys.

Indeed I do! Software fix in the works.
You'd think the Dealership (who told me they're aware of the fix needed) would have sent me home with the new software on the car when I picked it up a month ago! Fortunatly it's only a 20 minute fix and they'll be able to do it this afternoon! The bad part? I get to spend a chunk of my Sunday getting to and from the dealer to pick it up! 80 Miles one way. DOH!
At least I'll finally get my 18" pegs with BFG KDW2's! The dealer has had them just waiting for me! Now if only there was enough time to get the springs and IPD rear sway bar on they ALSO have for me! Now that would make this problem highly convienient!
Thanks for the info bschurr!

Re: Major Problem!? Loss of Power? (Capital R)

I am not to sure I would drive a new car 80 miles without a functioning temperature gauge. I would consider the car not drivable, and have them come pick it up on a flatbed. It really is not all that safe to drive in limp mode, and if there is a chance of it overheating due to its current failure, or some other failure you have during your journey, they will soon forget that they advised you to drive the car.
Also keep in mind their 20 minute job, may well be an 8 hour task for you, if you have to make a return trip. Most likely it is only SW however if a sensor also needs to be replaced, remember these guys are not empowered to change "warranty" items without pleading to VCNA, nor do they ever seem to have parts, so like I say, their 20 minutes can easily be your 8 hours, asuming two round trips.
Perhaps by putting more of it on their time and money, they can better realize the true cost of a 20 minute SW update.

Re: Major Problem!? Loss of Power? (rogersampson)

Had the car towed Friday morning hoping they could squeeze it in before the weekend.
They did. 20 minute fix, nothing but software. Picked it up last night and runs like a champ!
The new shoes feel great too! HUGE difference.
Thanks for the info fellas!
Re: Major Problem!? Loss of Power? (Capital R)

I had this same issue on ECM-275C.
It looks like I'll have to take my car in AGAIN though as the light under the rearview mirror on the driver's side came loose and started flapping around while I was driving last night. Wondering if there is in any coincidence? I also remember reading in a previous post that there are sensors in the rear view mirror....if so what are they so I can suggest for it to be checked as well. Thanks.

Not likely that the mirror light and ECM fix are related. Two distinctly different problems.
The only sensor in the outdoor mirror is for outdoor temperature sensing. If that is working OK in your car, I would not expect an issue here.
Once the mirror light is fixed check it for proper operation via the yellow button on ther key fob.
