It's just the maintenance reminder didn't get reset. If you google the year you'll find some youtube videos on how to do it.

Thanks, appreciate your help. This is the first time I have seen this warning. ( Trade in time )

Your vehicle needed service, and they forgot to reset the light, and you're up for trading in? Hope that was in jest!

I certainly assumed it was... but I see signs of humanity slipping into darkness more and more =-D
Lol, it's hard to tell these days. Minor things can frustrate people enough to call it quits.

The ONLY service providers that have ever reset the service reminders on any of my cars have been the respective dealers. Indendent shops simply don't do it because, as I've been told, "We put a sticker on your windshield for that".

Yeah. OK. Thanks for trying so hard.

This is why Owner's Manuals were invented.

Well, and when a car comes in before it's due (aka before the light comes on) and can be hard to know for sure that you did the reset properly. Even for my cars I have to typically look it up each time, and with P1, P2, P3 models in my fleet, each one is different and I lose track. Honestly, in two of my own cars it's on right now, and it's just easier to clear each day I drive than to look up the reset.

My GM car has an oil life algorithm that takes oil temperature, engine revs, mileage, and calendar days into account. In my case, I would lose all that value if I changed oil simply on mileage. You have to do a "pedal dance" (press the gas pedal three times with the key on but engine not running) to reset the algorithm.

I don't think our Volvos have such a thing, though.

Correct - can’t speak for the most recent Volvo models but certainly up to 2017 the maintenance reminder is a simple countdown that triggers after the set mileage or time, whichever happens soonest… with mileage it starts with ‘book time for service’ 500 miles before the due point, then updates to “time for maintenance” then if you go another 500 miles it will change to “maintenance overdue”

Thanks, Google set me straight as to which buttons to push to reset. That should be in the manual but isn't

"D" thanks for the info, I found out on Google the right buttons to push. That should be in the manual but isn't
