I am removing the engine from 2003 xc70 and I have read that it is easier to remove the main engine harness from the Ecm rather than disconnect every sensor. I am having trouble doing this. Any tips? Do I have to remove the ecm first to get to the harness.? Any thing helps. Thanks

I’ve gotten to the point where I can see this little red clip. I’m afraid of breaking stuff. I’ve looked at videos but they’re all on how to remove ecm. Might have to go to picknpull and experiment on junk cars first.

The ECM needs to be removed to pull the connector out from the white plastic block. You can do this by pushing the purple tabs with a screwdriver bit by bit until you can pull the ECM off. Then it's just a matter of unclipping the connector from the white block.
