Yes.Sorry to add to the clutter that is transmission swap threads but I need a quick answer. When converting from M40 to M41, do I need the angle drive speedo gear like from an 1800? I have the longer M41 cable already.
Where did you source your OD cable? I recently swapped my M40 for M41(in my 122) and had the extra cable from the p1800 M41 donor, but still wasn't long enough...currently using the droid speedometer app on my phone as my only indicator of speed (which is pretty cool, BTW, as you can verify your working speedometer, or have a cool heads-up display for night driving)If your speedo cable is long enough to make a smooth curve to the tranny fitting you can get by without it. The right angle drives are getting pretty hard to find and they are kinda fragile also. None of my OD cars have them and once I got OD speedo cables they were long enough to work OK.
http://www.alanauto.com/1970_volvo_1800e_yellow.htmI'm bumping this from the dead. I managed to get the angle drive gear for the speedo cable but I always imagined it would be swapped out with something behind the dash. Is it actually supposed to thread onto the OD? I don't know why I didn't think of this before. If this is the case, where does the small seal go?
Edit: I figured it out.
Legit question though. The threaded end for the cable points directly at the OD solenoid! Can that end be turned any to allow clearance for the cable or were they for use with an F type OD with the solenoid on the other side?
Edit (again): Disregard that too. I need to work more and talk less.
