I've got a '99 C70 hpt coupe. As I await my ipd ECU, I am wondering if there is something wrong with the car, besides my living at 7,500 altitude.
It takes 10.1 sec to go from 0-60!
It takes about 3 sec to get to 25 mph/2500 rpm, then finally you can fel some surge from the turbo.
Anyone have experince with this big a power loss due to altitude?
Any ther ideas?

i know altitude has a big effect on N/A cars... but.. yours is turbo...

umm.. my sister's jetta 4 cyl had this problem cuz the dealer reprogrammed the ECU and accidentally left the auto tranny stuck on 2nd gear....*shrugs* i dunno how a mistake like that could happen but it did.

Hi,
I am in Broomfield (between Denver/Boulder) wuh 2000 C70 HPT 4 speed auto. Totdefinitely interested to see how your upgrade goes, been considereing SuperSprint exhaust and IPD (TME) ECU. RE starts, with 4 speed initial takeoff is slow. I have not timed 0-60, but we could compare side by side after your upgrade f you want. Feel freee to call me...

There is a very active VCOA chapter too if interested... Readying for Fall drive in mountains. Last one all our P1800s (mine and 3 others) vapor locked pretty bad on Loveland pass. Justin's 122 with Dtronic and BMW M fuel pump (that was the secret, it handled high altitudes well) blazed up the mountain.

We have been thinkng of a G-tech day, weighing cars and see what they can do.

I've got the ipd ECU on now, and it made a little difference. Probably shaved 1/4 sec off 0-60 times. I was hoping for more of an impact. The biggest difference is that it seems to pull a bit more evenly ... once the turbo kicks in at 25 mph, it's a straight pull to 60 mph. Sounds different, too ... more whining happening.

I did some other 0-60 runs with torque loading before starting (standing on the brake until 2000 rpm), and shifting manually ... I was able to get in a 8.25 sec 0-60 run. This seems more like it ... this much off a 6 sec time I can understand being due to altitude.

Still not thrilled about the $1,000 for the ECU, though. Maybe if I spring another $600 for the exhaust will help?! Aggh!

Tell me more about the chapter, and the fall ride ... are you going to take new cars?
