I have an '04 S60R with 235/40-18 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. I've been very happy with them for over a year, but just recently they have gotten extremely LOUD. At around 40 mph is where they are at their worst. I noticed the sound more from the back, so I just had them rotated to the front, and now it's horrifically loud from the front (surprise!) I notice at the tirerack.com site they are considered one of the quietest tires (and they were quiet for a long time.)
If I were to switch to summer tires (like the Pilot Sport or new equivalent) would they be quieter? I don't particularly want to go that route since I live in NJ where we do occasionally get snow, and I'd rather not have to get snow tires for the winter.

Re: LOUD tires (Davideo)

I would say no.
When a tire has more miles on them, keep in mind the impact of uneven tread wear. This is the number on issue with that problem.
Inspect them to see if they are evenly worn, and not feathered and or cup.
