a 1999 V70 with 73k on the clock. I am not familiar at all with the FWD volvos. What is the general consensus on these models as far as realiability? How about the electicals?<br>Anything in particular I should inspect or check before persuing? TIA for any inputs.<p>marty

My '99 was very reliable. I would check the typical items like air conditioning, transmission shifts smoothly, no serious clunking from the suspension, brakes, etc.

See if you can get ahold of service records. I'm not sure about the 99, but if memory serves, my 98 calls for the timing belt to be done at 70k, and that's an important job. There've been some problems with the electronic throttle system on the 99 and later 70's, but Volvo has stepped up to the plate and is taking care of that to most people's satisfaction as far as I can tell.
