hey all, it's been a while!...Looking for your advice on picking up an R. My dad is looking for one to replace his A6 as his daily driver - he wanted something sportier while not being too flashy. He drove a few S4s and M5s, but he's more into understated cars, making the S60R perfect (that took a little convincing... )
Since the depreciation is relatively high on the R, he wants go slightly used . I found an '05 S60R, Magic Blue/Nordkap 6MT. It has the Climate and Premium packages, plus the 18" pegs.
They just certified it for us as well, so it has the 6yr/100k mile Volvo warranty (that was huge for us). It has about 19,500 miles on it, and theyre asking $29k...I think it's fair given the great condition the car is in, but i still think there is a bit of a margin. We haven't even gotten to the negotation step yet, but then again i haven't been looking at the R market since i got rid of my S40.
Also, is there anything in particular we should look for when we go in?
Thanks in advance...

Fair price especially since it has most of the options and the warranty. Ask if they have the service records and make sure that you get the VIN so you can carfax it later. That's about it, just go over the standard stuff when looking into a used car...check the body for dents/dings/damage, excessive wear to tires and that's about it. Good Luck

I figured that at around 20k, the Rossos should probably be replaced sometime soon...I didn't check if they had been changed or not yet.
My dad is still deciding between the R and a few various BMWs, but I think since he's looking at the E90 M3 as a "fun car", he'd rather go with the R for now...

I would say $29k is fair. But I would offer him $27k and see what they say. I picked up my R with 30k miles and certified for around $30k. Its worth a shot. Good luck.

So I went in to drive it today...
May I just saythat the R is incredible. This one is in great condition, without a single scratch/ding/dent. The Nordkap is in such great shape...looks brand new...
One thing i noticed, though, was that there was a little thud when starting the car...Is this normal? Right as the car started, it was just a small thud as if a motor mount was loose...Any feedback?
