I have a 2005 S60R with the 17" factories on it. I want to put on 18" aftermarkets but am havign a hard time finding out what fits and doesn't. I've talked to several local wheel shops and a specialty Volvo/Euro car (they don't do aftermarket wheels) shop with little to no luck but the latter recommended I visit this site. I've looked back in the archives on this site under this subject and found some valuable info, but not enough to answer my questions. I'm looking for 18" wheels that will fit my R with the least amount of trouble. If it rubs a bit, I'm okay with that but am under the impression that spacers, etc. are troublesome--is this true? I know of Tire Rack, Evolve, OZ, IPD, etc. but the only ones I have seen that I like are out of my price range. I have found these, that I like, but don't know if they would fit:

Any help and/or opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to Swedespeed!

What's your budget for 18" wheels? Note that 18" tires cost considerably more than 17" tires...

Re: Looking for Aftermarket Wheels for R (George @ ViVA)

Hi, George, thanks for the reply. I'd like to keep it at no more than $2000 for wheels and tires. I found a few that I liked and linked on my post but the sites only said they would fit S60's, not specifically S60R's.

Those are nice! But I 'm looking for chrome. I really like the Alba 740 Monaco's in the link in my original post but haven't been able to confirm they fit. The guy at the Volvo/Euro shop told me that he would be concerned about the "bore holes"...if they would be the same shape, if I remember correctly. Does that sound right?

I believe by "bore holes", he means the wheel's centerbore. You want a wheel that has a 65.1mm centerbore, or one that requires hubcentric rings to adapt to 65.1mm

I'm personally not a big fan of Chrome, but to each his own. You may have trouble verifying wheel fitment for less common wheels given that the R's brake calipers cause fitment issues.

Wow...all those wheels look like ass. http://********************/smile/emthdown.gif http://********************/smile/emthdown.gif

If that's your budget, keep your stock wheels. You're not going going to find anything worthwhile for $2K with tires. Either that or double/triple your budget.

A stock car looks much nicer than a molested one looking like it just rolled out of a Pep Boys garage. And for the record, if you want the chrome look, you're better off with polished aluminum.

sport edition CDs on Tire rack...cheap but not listed as fitting the R. they fit without spacers or modification.

Do they come with correct centering ring ?

Re: Looking for Aftermarket Wheels for R (s140s)

lol the ass meter came out! have to agree....

From what I am hearing the calipers create the drama in regards to clearance. There is a new thread on IPD??? peg repos. Take a look around the posts.

Spacers + diff nuts + longer bolts = PIA IMHO Especially if you decide you want to run a few track days here and there.

Damn!? Wheels are ass!? LOL...no matter, they were just what I could find in that price range. And I misspoke earlier, I prefer polished aluminum, not chrome. I disagree about having to double/triple budget to find anything "worthwhile" (although it is easier), because "worthwhile" is subjective. I do like the Monaco's cuz I like the spoke design. Believe me, I would prefer to get OZ Superleggera III's, Fikse Aro's or BBS types because I like the look and lip. There's only one thing stopping me--the wife. Maybe $3,000.

George--any suggestions on wheels?

I have never been a fan of chrome, but everyone is entitled to their own style.

I will say that wheels with a polish lip tend to look smaller when installed on the R. I had a set of 19s that were black with a polished lip, and they looked like 18s. Now I have a set of 18s which are all black, and they look larger for some reason
