Hello,

My parking brake cable has broken... The molded barrel at the end that goes into the actual parking brake lever has actually broken off. I assumed it would be an easy find, but so far no luck. The cable is marked with the part number 30645627. Has the part number changed or am I looking at potentially stripping one from the salvage yard? Thanks.

See if this link works- https://parts.volvocarslisle.com/a/...4124/Brake-control--mechanical/GR-404463.html

Cable assembly is noted as item #2- Part Number: 30793827 with Supersession(s): 30714012. There's some note about chassis number 52294 onwards, I'll guess you're higher than that (last 6 of VIN).

Someone parting out an XC90 is probably a good bet, cable is the same after the 52,294th vehicle apparently.

*Dim lightbulb went off in my head a moment ago (saw the diagram more closely), it's the cable that has that troublesome adjuster ("troublesome" being polite). If you're replacing it, you'll need adjustment instructions- https://forums.swedespeed.com/showt...Brake-(How-the-hell-do-you-adjust-this-thing-!)

Hey man, thanks for the reply. Yes, mine is one of the ones which had the PITA spring loaded self adjusting stupidness. Anyway, I decided to buy the entire new assembly from my local dealer - new cable and all new pedal assembly. According to his catalog, the cable is no longer available on its own as the foot brake assembly was redesigned. So, $200 and it should be good to go once it's delivered...
