Hey all,

I'm trying to work together the pieces I'll be needing to let my R get a little more air. This is my first turbo vehicle so I don't fully understand all the intake parts. I'm not looking to get a FMIC so I want to focus on upgrading the intake and any tubing that's interconnected between intercoolers/turbos/manifolds.

K&N -- http://www.ipdusa.com/products/5374/111579-k-n-engine-air-filter-s60r-v70r
IPD turbo inlet hose -- http://www.ipdusa.com/products/9297/120685-turbo-inlet-hose-blue-p2-s60r-v70r
IPD Tubing coupler kit -- http://www.ipdusa.com/products/5434/114433-silicone-boost-tubing-coupler-kit
IPD Charge air pipe -- http://www.ipdusa.com/products/9319/120705-silicone-performance-charge-air-pipe-p2-s60-v70-xc70
R Kelly Mod -- http://www.ipdusa.com/products/5679/113179-r-model-intake-kit
Snabb Intake -- http://www.snabb.us/Performance-Turbo-Intake-Pipe-04-07-V70R-S60R_p_36.html

How does that list look? What other parts am I missing? I keep reading about the R's sensors and computer when doing mods. Do I need to worry about doing basic "bolt ons" such as this?

The stock system flows more than enough to keep even a tuned engine happy. The best bang for your buck would be to change the tube from the MAF to the turbo to smooth piece and add a 'snorkel/ram air kit' to eliminate air box vacuum at WOT.

What are you trying to accomplish by swapping the plastic OTE pipe to such an expensive piece of Silicone? No performance gain to be had here.

Is the Tube you are referring to from the MAF to the turbo the Snabb intake?

My goal is to just let any air that's going in be as unrestrictive as possible.

Personally, I would reconsider a FMIC - one of the best mods you can do to the R. The stock FMIC sucks - which is why so many have replaced it with aftermarket models. The R-Kelly/IPD CAI is a beneficial and inexpensive mod you can install yourself. People are mixed on their feelings on the K&N, it has worked fine for me, but you could also just pull the foam "sock" off the paper OEM filter and be done with it. My 2c.

I'm trying to do two things here.

Keep it as stock looking as possible, and not make any permanent mods (example: cutting the bumper)

Well, the wimpy FMIC is part of the air intake system, so I see that a pretty significant choke point of your free flowing intake air plan. The exhaust is also part of the equation, any plans for DP/exhaust?

exhaust is for another day.

Maybe the next set I'll do the drop in + charge tubes.

So far it's looking like the filter, r-kelly intake kit, and turbo inlet tube (snabb vs IPD -- anybody know why IPD is so much more expensive than the Snabb one?). Is that at least a decent start?

I haven't had an issue with my K&N but a lot of people have reported that their filter has a tiny hole in it.. Also, that it fouls up the maf sensor.

For real. I have been battling this problem my self. I just ordered a spare maf so I can keep it in the car. Cleaning the maf with crc has not helped.

My car only came with a k&n installed in it from previous owner. I'm going to install something else that isn't oiled, I just haven't decided which filter besides k&n it will be. I had a simple open cone on it the I on purpose just slightly oiled and wiped down and it's still getting me.
