Hi all,

I recently sold my '99 Saab 9-3SE. I loved the vehicle, but decided that at that time I didn't want to keep two cars. I have a 4WD SUV, and I decided to hang onto it as my primary vehicle since the Saab was just over three years old. (purchased in May of '98)

Mistake! I dearly miss driving a sports sedan. The SUV is great to take on trips and to go off roading in, but I miss the acceleration and sporty feel available in a sedan.

I've decided to look at the Volvo S60- I love the way they look, and my family has had great experience with Volvo in the past (my father had a '94 850 Turbo... I remember how fast it was, how comfortable the seats were, and how good it smelled). I'm looking into an S60 2.4 A or 2.4T, probably with the premium package, cold weather/STC pkg and the 17" wheels and Geartronic on the 2.4T.

A few questions on prices...local dealerships are advertizing about $5000 off of MSRP. Sounds pretty good to me- should I expect more?

Are there any factory incentives out right now? Any dealer cash?

Also, I recently found out that I can buy Ford products at the "vendor" rate. I think this is the X-plan. Is anyone familiar with this plan? I think it means that I get the cars for 4% over invoice. Would I expect to get the $5000 off, too? (I've never purchased a car at this rate)

Finally, sorry for all the questions, but does anyone know if Volvo will continue to offer 2.9% financing in November? How about 0%?

Hehe...one more...I mentioned before the great smell of my dad's 94. Do the S60s smell as good? Something about Volvo leather/plastics smells so good...

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

If you look at carsdirect.com, they are referencing a new incentive that brings the purchase price of a 2001 S60 to ~2k below invoice. You must take delivery by 12/31.

I just picked up my 01 S60T5 today. Obviously, I haven't tasted all of the nectar it has to offer, but damn, my car is sweet!
