Hey there guys,
I'm currently looking at purchasing a 2004 V70R. I own an 2001 S60 T5 but the KM's are just getting to high. I'd like to make some modifications to the car, but can't justify it based on the age and mileage. In the last year I've put over $5000 of maintenance into the car. I'd rather divert some of this to payments of a car that's going to last me a few years. I've attached a link for the car and I'm wondering if you guys could give me any advice or guidance. Thanks.
http://edmonton.kijiji.ca/c-ca...74173

Re: Looking at a V70R (aidan)

Hard for us in the US to gauge pricing....
Car is a US car...MPH not KMH speedo which means that all of your other readouts for fuel & usage, average speed, will be in miles.
No premium stereo....can't tell if it has a sunroof.
Nordkap isn't in the greatest shape.
80k miles, not KM's.
I'd pass and try to find an '05 if I could unless the $$ are a steal.

I appreciate the advice Needsdecaf. I've spent the past couple weeks looking for V70R's in Canada, but they seem hard to come by. I definitely want a 6MT which doesn't help my cause. Any advice as to where I could look to track one down?

Tell him your requirements and he will look.
Also, there's always autotrader, cars.com, etc.

Re: Looking at a V70R (aidan)

The price is high, relative to what I paid in Ontario.
I bought my MT 04 VR with Atacama (premium over black/blue nordkap), premium stereo, sunroof and heated seats with 70k km (44k miles) for almost $2000 less than they're asking.
With almost 138k km, I would pass, unless they're willing to come down to a price that would be a deal.... say, $16,500.
I would have preferred an 05 over an 04, but the particular combination of exterior and interior colors on my 04 was difficult to find in Canada.
Cheers,
J

Is it a PIA to buy in the US and drive it home?
If not try craigslist Seattle - there are a few. Also when you do a search - search "V70R" and "V70 R" sometimes you get a few more cars pop up due to how they are listed.
There are a couple in Portland metro too - I can alway do a visual if it helps. Seattle's a bit far though.
Good luck

I just spoke to my local indie shop that showed me a 6MT V70R that's going up for auction on the 29th. It's an 04 with Sonic Blue ext/nordkap interior. The car has 96 000 KM with a small dent in the passenger side door. It's in Toronto, so I would either have to drive it back across the country (3500 km trip) or have it shipped. What should I expect to pay for this vehicle at auction?

I just double checked the listing. The car is a blue, but looks slightly darker and less vibrant than the sonic blue. I'm not entirely sure what color the vehicle is. Does anyone know the colors offered in 04 V70 R's.

Probably Magic Blue.
If it's coming from Toronto, you MUST check carefully for rust damage. They salt a LOT more than us West Coasters are used to.
Prices for the few Rs that exist on the West Coast are more expensive as well, but I think that one you originally posted is a bit too much for that mileage (unless he's actually done the miles -> km conversion, instead of just reading off the gauge).
