Alright! I picked up my R 5 hours ago. I could not wait for next week to come. It was ready, so I got her.
Man, what a car! I am 150% sure this was the car for me. The color is beautiful. The graphite pegs with the sonic blue is even better than imagined.
And, the 6-speed manual is excellent. It is very easy to shift and really allows the driver to take advantage of the torque band.
I must say, this is a completely different animal than the automatic I test drove 2 months ago. There are reasons for both. But with the manual, this car can really be driven!
I cannot believe how quickly each gear hits 4000. 4 grand is soooo limited! I cannot wait to be able to wind her out.
The interior is just as nice/nicer than the MY01 S60 2.4T I had. My wife said she had forgotten how nice the seats were. They blow my LS seats away. And Lincoln has very nice leather seating.
I tinkered with the stereo for about 30 minutes and now have it set to where even FM radio sounds fantastic. I cannot wait to put a c.d. in. I typically put my Rusted Root c.d. in for 'the audio test'. It does not have as much bass as my THX system. But the surround sound is amazing! Even better than George Lucas' system.
The doors have a nice, tight, solid sound to them. Very important to me. My LS sounds like a vault closing when you push them closed.
The steering feels very nice, too. It even has a more solid feeling than my heavier LS. The LS _now_ seems to float over bumps. The cornering is also great.
I am just really tickled (does that sound cool?) to death by this car. As some of you may remember, I was less than impressed by my first test-drive. With the manual...WOW!
Great car guys...I guess I am finally in the know!

Re: Look out...theres a new sonic blue Volvo in town! (Eric_H)

Congrats & welcome to the small Sonic Blue Club
The seats are great, aren't they!
Now find yourself a local gas station that carries some 100 octane (once you've broken in your car) and mix in a few gallons. In fact I'm heading out to do that right now.
Your car will get a lot of attention (or maybe it is my prancing mooses and European plates).
Careful with curb rash. Those wheels and tires are EXTREMELY ease to damage. I put memory position three on the passenger side-mirror in a tilt down mode to ease with parking. I highly recommend doing this.
Once again enjoy & take some pictures for the rest of us to enjoy.
My idea of breaking in my car (well it had about 500 miles on her by now)

Ummmm...500 miles? It appears your tach is past the 4 grand limit!
I was going to post a pic...but there are some great pics in here of the same exact car(Quick Brick).
Once I customize her- debadge - , I'll take some shots. lol

Out of curioisity, which settings are you using to make FM sound good? The HU-803 stereo in my old '02 T5 sounded great, but I haven't been able to match the quality with the HU-850, and it lacks the adjustments that the old system had.
When really cranked up with a CD the HU-850 does sound pretty good, but at lower volumes I find the sound to be flat, particularly when listening to FM.

Thanx and congrats ... I am no Felini .It appears we will be going slightly different directions with our mods so it will be interesting to how both turn out. How many ppl have come up along side of you to "race" or play??? Happened to me on my drive home from the dealer and I still think it has something to do with the color combo .

Re: Look out...theres a new sonic blue Volvo in town! (02s60t5)

For me: radio is in Dolby, center speaker is 0, surround(rear speakers are maxed, mid is -1. I have bass full and treble at mid.
Thats what sounds great to me. I had my Rusted Root c.d. in for one song. Even better than FM! Of course, I assumed that anyway.
.....I have been setting in my car, walking around my car, cleaning my car for 3 hours while my wife is out getting her hair done. I can't go out driving until she gets back because the kids are napping. WHAT TORTURE!!!!

Re: Look out...theres a new sonic blue Volvo in town! (Quick Brick)

No races...yet. I will need to think about how I am going to handle these until she is broken in.
However, I felt as if everyone was looking at me! I'm quite sure everybody thinks that with a new ride. But, I did have people pulling up beside me in the next lane and checking her out. I think the graphite wheels have a lot to do with that. They just DEMAND attention.
Of course, if you want to to get staired at......trying riding an all but 10 foot long chopper some time. And, boy is she loud!

Glad you like it! As you and I discussed a while ago, it is a VERY different car than the LS. LS is a great car, but this one is much more involving to drive (even with the curse of the lowly GT). And beware the brakes - they are much stronger and more linear than the LS....Enjoy and Congrats!

I couldn't remember your user i.d., or what topic to search under...but you were SO correct!
It's funny, because I have told everyone that asks (and they all ask) that this car really shames my LS. The LS has gimics out the wazoo! And, I wonder why the S60 has still not caught on to some of the things Lincoln has going on (perimeter lighting with unlock, power steering wheel that retracts during exit, power lumbar, slowly diminshing theatre lighting, window opening from the keyfob, a/c seats, etc, etc, etc.).
However, as for performance...the R makes my LS seem like an oaf(sp?)! My LS feels 10 feet longer and a ton heavier. The cornering in my R last night up and down the hills was phenomenal. I can't wait until the tires are worn in.
And the nice seats of my LS now feel like sliding on lawn furniture. lol
If I could just smooth out that first to second shift= all would be perfect!

Re: (Quick Brick)

Do the lights dim slowly...I really didn't know.
Yes, I knew about the yellow button on the remote...just thought it should be automatic with unlocking when ambient lighting dictates. And yes, quite true...I would trade all those gadgets for everything the R offers. ...oh yeah, I did!
Ummmm...beat you to the debadging.
Everything is off the tunklid except for:
R
AWD
This week my takspeed emblems should be coming in. I think it will add just a little bit more color and interest to an already attention-grabbing car.
I would take a pic of the lid for you guys to see, but am still 100% lost when it comes to posting pics.
In other forums, I hit ATTACH and it allows me to attach a photo from MY PICS folder. In here, it appears I need to have my pics web-hosted. Why can I not just pull the photo from my hard drive straight to swedespeed?
