... well, sorry ... certainly won't be a big deal to most members here, especially anybody with the factory sport kit. I Installed my new factory spoiler last night (in my dark garage ) but managed to get a couple of nice photos today out at our church parking lot.
My wife loves it so unfortunately you guys don't get a vote (again ). Definetly adds a sporty edge to the car ... and no Eric_H, I don't think it is too big . Looks just right to me.
I have another slight exterior tweak or two planned for this year, but the more I look at the car in it's present state, the more I am thinking I may not add any other pieces from the factory sport package. I think between the color and the aero pieces together, it may just be too much. Here she is ... don't expect her to stay this way for long :

... and sorry mhon, I don't know if you got my PM yet, I cracked the old lip getting it off just as MASH predicted . I think it looks great. I am going to add the spoiler soon myself and probably the rest of the factory sport body kit in a few months. What did you pay for the spoiler and to have it painted?

Re: Look at my sexy behind ... (Quick Brick)

Hey quick... love it. Any idea as to the Downforce vs. drag to the new spoiler... it is very understated, and very clean... I am sure it is a good ratio, but just curious, not that I drive over 120 often anyway.

Re: Look at my sexy behind ... (Quick Brick)

Looks good, I always liked the color blue. Actually my other car is blue. Just a quick question, wouldn't be cheaper to have gotten your R Quick Brick with the factory ground effects and spolier. Well, that was my thinking when I got my R. I knew if I did not get the whole thing, that I might regret it later. On that note, I wish I could of gotten a R with NAV, oh well. Anyway Quick Brick, if you ever want to meet up in Birmingham for Star Bucks, let me know. Like to see what type of mods you did on your R.

I don't believe the "sonic blue" was available with the sport body kit in 2006 just as my electric silver wasn't available with the sport body kit, both new colors for 06.

c130 - I have seen silver with the full on kit - looks great!- I say do it . Sad story in my previous thread when I was contemplating adding the spoiler ... dealer quoted 75, then wanted 90 when I actually brought it in . I look at it as it only cost me 15 bucks to determine I never want to bring them any more biz.
JOSBRO - I have no idea . I am sure I won't see any benifits at 80 on the EWay here .
Bouncer - Anytime man ... just PM me. I have an office in Troy, and one in Warren. There has got to be a place where we can hook up, even if not Starbucks ... Give me at least a day notice so I can bring my cam .
Correct, 2006Factory Sport Pack is NOT AVAILABLE with Sonic Blue or Electric Silver. I dunno why ... and thanx Eric .
nikhsub1 - Easy Peasy. The hardest part was removing the old "Lip", and like I said, I broke it . There is a special drill bit available at the dealer as the spoiler requires you drill 2 different size holes. 1 through the plastic at 1/2" ( I used an old forsner bit so I could control the depth), and 1 at 5/16 the rest of the way through the sheet metal. No real need to buy the special bit unless you want to.
Dont worry about corrosion, your decklid is aluminum .

Re: Look at my sexy behind ... (Quick Brick)

A correction and some clarification from the thread where I originally started to ask about this mod -
spudmanmike was the one who suggested that I would break the lip taking it off. Unfotunayely HE was right. I would have probably had a little more patience if my hands weren't bleeding ... the tape on the lip is really STRONG LIKE BULL!
I would have never been able to mount this thing with the factory lip still in place. I placed my new spoiler on the decklid with the old lip on there and it shoved the new spoiler about 1" forward out of position.
Yes, the kit comes with templates ... acurate ones amazingly enough.
New spoiler is indeed taped and screwed on, just as it would be by the factory.

My wife has this spoiler on her S60 and her I note my dislikes:
1. Cleaning under it is a PITA. Applying was is a whole other story.
B. It makes a really obnoxious noise at high speeds almost like when you are watching abig indutrial fan ina movie and they zoom in on the sound clip.

I totally agree with you, adding more would take it from understated sportiness (how I view Rs) to in your face. Which is cool if you are in to that, but not my cup 'o.
Also, the front of the R is , the splitters just look tacked on IMO, and break off easily anyways.

Re: (Cementups)

Hey Cementups, I have heard this noise myself. At high speeds I could watch the wing in my rear veiw mirror vibrate. The sound was terrible. I talked to the dealer and they replaced the piece and even paid to have a new one installed. No more vibrating with the new one. Some of the pre-painted wings are a little thinner than the unpainted.

Re: (MASH)

Thanx "R" Kelly. I originally contemplated adding just the sideskirts and rear valance similar to a pic that Slowery posted. I may still consider it at some point down the road ... maybe after she comes off lease. I never really considered adding the front pieces after reading about all the trouble ppl on here have had with them. Michigan certainly isn't known for smooth roads and friendly driveways . For now, I am happy with the added dimension the spoiler gives the overall body shape.
Cementups and MASH, interesting commentary. I will have to take her on a high speed run today to see if I can reproduce what you are talking about. I hope not. FWIW, I think you know, I had to order the unpainted version as Sonic Blue was not in the system to order factory painted.
I have already cleaned under it ... seems easy enough to me. I learnt a lot of tips and tricks with a similar style spoiler I mounted on my Benz.
BTW, it is interesting to see that in about 12 hours 330 ppl have opened this thread to "see my sexy behind" ... pervs .

If you can hear your spoiler then I'd venture a guess that something went wrong with the application process, or it has since been knocked loose. The only noise I've ever heard at speed is an odd billowing noise when both the front and rear windows are down....but this is common among many cars (not just the S60 or even Volvos for that matter).
Do you hear the noise with the windows down?
-Eric

Re: (Sue Esponte)

The vibrating in the rear wing only happened above 120mph. On a closed circuit of course. Then on realy windy days above 80mph. Now the wing only vibrates when I turn the thumpidy thump up!

Re: Look at my sexy behind ... (mhon)

I'm so sorry man ... I REALLY tried. Like I said, my hands were bleeding after sawing throughabout 8 inches of the strong rubber tape ... the temptation to pull straight up on it was just to great ... I was doing fine carefully pulling up too until I got to about the last 6 inches fo the opposite end (of which I had already sawed through about 4), then SNAP !

A hair dryer and Glide dental floss would have eliminated that :SNAP! 20/20 vision now I bet!

If it's any consolation your S60R is looking really hot.
That Cosmic Blue sure makes a statement.
