Well, I took delivery of my R five years ago today. It has been a long and sometimes stressful journey but there are few alternatives out there that make me want to spend $$$ on a replacement. She's getting the rest of her fluids changed tomorrow (angle gear, Haldex, differential, gearbox) so hopefully we'll be good to go for a few more. So here's the poll:

How long have you owned/driven your R?

Got my R as a christmas gift to myself on dec. 24th 2007, now I wouldn't even give it to someone else as a gift, why burden someone with this cRap. Me and my R have a Love/Hate relationship and as far as I am concerned after next spring the R is gone! leaning more towards Hate at times.

Sorry to hear that...just got my Rica stage II tune and we are on another level. The R is pulling hard and producing sounds that are orgasmic.

R Face? Rgasm?

I had mine for a year now, and I feel the same about the love/hate thing. But I just can't picture myself in anything else right now. Too much fun!!!

Next month it's 2 years I have had my current R. I had my 04 exactly 3. So, right, wrong or different depending on how you look at it, I said 5 years.

Does stop and make you think though...I remember my test drive well. I fell in love before I was out of the parking lot. It's been a journey of not always positive experiences, but mostly it's been great. Swedespeed has made it decidedly better.

And I still absolutely can't walk away from it without looking back at it. It's just a really great car that has held my interest for 5 years and counting. http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

Re: (Chilled Man)

Took delivery of mine SIX years ago next week. Still love it and think it is the best looking car going. Been on the back cover of Rolling magazine. Still just shy of 40,000 miles and looking at an extendedX2 warranty to take me to 10 years in the car. Only mechanical issue has been the angle gear. Must add that I still am confused why the black paint has a white primer. The bane of my car's appearance existence.

Mine's been 90 Love 10 Hate. Once my warranty is completely gone, things might change.

I would go more of a 80/20 but close enough......and my warranty has been gone for a year now. However, Keystone pulled the transmission and did a few fixes one month before the warranty went buh bye so no huge concerns yet.

I can only shudder to think at the frustrations that would have festered without Swedespeed troubleshooting assistance.

As I said in the opening post, not much else that makes me want to spend $$$. The look is still http://********************/smile/emthup.gif and oh those seats.

Re: (MagoonR)

It isn't all about the speed, or any other SINGLE aspect.

I find myself looking at my car a lot...kinda lame, but true. At one point I used to have to walk by the entrance to my work and I could see my R clearly out of the windows and glass doors. I used to park it only in the spots I could see. I have never had a car that has had that kind of effect on me...

Drive a tuned SRT8 and see what fun is! now that is fast! Another reason to go back to american muscle.

Caliber? 300C? Challenger? I can;t imagine that a tune does much on a NA engine. Besides, Chrysler is an irrelevent goner; even if/when they emerge from bankruptcy.

This, Damnit.

I was at work tonight and my friend said, "Rich, I drove past you Tuesday. I was in my friend Frank's car and as we passed he said 'Holy sh*t! That was the nicest Volvo I've ever seen!!'".

Needless to say, it was an amazing compliment. I love the R as an overall car, and I drive nearly every Volvo every day.

Re: (MancUnited1)

I made my last car payment yesterday (five year loan) and the car still looks and runs great. There have been ups and downs, but overall it has been a very positive experience, spline sleeve not withstanding.

tuned 335i anybody?

That would be one of my top choices to replace my R should something happen to it in the near future.

I am going to run my R until it dies, or until the repairs become unbearable.

Personally, I'd consider...
C63 AMG
E90 335xi
E46 M3
New Z4
Caymen S
