After owning a Passat for 4.5 years I got pretty used to have my car give a short beep when I locked / unlocked the doors. After several months with the Volvo, one of the few things that bugs me is that I rarely know if the doors are locked after I press the button on the remote. Obviously there are the flashing lights, but I find fairly often that my lights don't flast even though the doors have locked - and its difficult to see the lights in the sun.
So: Is there any easy way to make the car make some sort of sound when I lock the doors (other than the sound from the locking mechanism)? I'd even be willing to install an alarm, but it would have to work with the factory remote control. Any options?
Thanks!

Re: lock doors, no beep. factory option or alarm? (GoBigRed)

if the lights don't flash when you hit the lock button, it can indicate that there is a door that's not quite closed. that's been my experience.
Not the answer you're looking for, just an FYI--

it's been a while since I played with it but can't be changed in the menu? I know the "how many doors unlock" and you can choose if you want the doors to lock when you drive away and whatnot. Can't remember but you could try there first.

Any thoughts on an alarm for the car? I seriously would consider adding something specifically to hear a noise on locking, as long as I could continue to use the same remotes.

You should ask your dealer. Anything that can be done will require him to do it. There's very little you can do to add-on to the car's electronics in the aftermarket.
The car des have an alarm btw. For a demo, open a window, lock the car then reach in and open the door.
Tom.

I'm not really worried about security (the RFID keys are probably all I'd need), I just want a lock confirmation. I'll ask the dealer - thats the best advice. Thanks!
