Has anybody tried the load liner (the heavy one that covers the sides and back of the seats) in conjunction with a 3rd-row seat?
Does it have to be modified to allow for the rear seatbelts?
How much of a pain is it to detach/roll up when you put the seat up?
Has anybody tried modifying it to allow you to deploy the seat while keeping the liner in place?
Is there room behind the 3rd row seat to stow it?
Any other product selections? I'd like one I can leave in place and be able to roll up/stow when necessary to use the 3rd row.
Thanks

Re: Load liner with 3rd Row (greek2us)

I'm not sure that I've seen the liner you are describing--mine is plastic with "curled-up" edges (to keep liquids in their place, presumably); it doesn't really cover the back of the seats though
when the 3rd row seat is folded down, it fits just fine, the 3rd row seatbelts don't interfere
when the seat is in use, you either have to leave it behind or stuff it in the 2nd row seating area (which usually defeats the point of needing to use the 3rd row seat--I've got passengers there too) because it is fairly stiff and doesn't fold easily

Re: Load liner with 3rd Row (kenschel)

The one I'm looking at is heavy black fabric:

My thought is that I could cut the liner in two places from the back lip (bumper cover) forward to the 3rd row seat hinge, about an inch outboard of the seat. Then sew strips of heavy velcro along the cut (wife's got a Pfaff that can do heavy work like that). I think if I did that, we could roll up the center piece behind the seat when it was up, and then back over to cover everything when it was stowed.
May be cheaper, maybe even easier, to manufacture my own setup.

I think that is a good idea - the velcro should "hook up" nicely to the carpeted sides, and there is plenty of space to store it rolled up behind the seat when its up.

The load liner is over $200. I don't know if you want to be cutting away on that item. Maybe an aftermarket company sells something that may fit easier.

Re: Load liner with 3rd Row (doubleb26)

I can't find anything. Will be receiving my Volvo when I get back to the US in a month. I think I may manufacture my own setup - have to decide if it's worth it (I may just go with the 2-sided cargo mat rolled up).
