????????

What's the story (if any)?

What's the message (If any)?

Do you realize that a very popular TV show that's on right now ("Once Upon a Time") actually portrays Red as the werewolf? My initial thought was that Red, in the back seat, was going to join her buddy outside the car. You may be working at cross purposes with this approach. Oops.

Oh well, too late now as it's in the can.

Seeing as I've never watched that show I didn't make the reference/connection however I seriously doubt a show that's been around for less than a single season has redefined the way people interpret understand and view the little red riding hood story.

I agree with JPL. I have no idea what Volvo tries to tell us. All other car manuafacturers have a clean message, but Volvo shows us plastic doll on a dash, stars or wolfs. Are Volvos safe? Are they fuel efficient? Do they last? Are they fun to drive? Volvo, what are you?

Oh,

Please, guys...get real...

Audi vampire commercial broke all records...and what's a message there?

The message in Volvo commercial is crystal clear...your child is safe and well protected against the "wolves" of this world in Volvo...same message as always - nothing beats Volvo in safety...and a subtle nod to the 325 HP that gets you through the forest...

It is cute, if anything...

Thank you for sharing, Yannis...

No problem, Lev. If one were to watch, carefully, the second video link I posted the cues behind this spot are, subtly, explained. ;)

On a different note, I would have loved to have seen a condensed version of this XC70 spot!

I know what Volvo is and that's why I drive one. I just believe current Volvo ads are total waste of money. Audi vampire commercial made people aware of their halo car (Volvo has none). It looks like Subaru ads are what Volvo's should be.

Wow, tough crowd! A few years back many members of this forum complained that Volvo wasn't spending any money on marketing, and that most people weren't aware that the S60R even existed. Now that Volvo is spending a fair amount of money to market the various flavors of the S60 in different ways, people still aren't happy.

Oh well, at least the latest campaigns are far better than the "nail polish" campaign when the new S60 first launched!

Nit picky, but the S7 is not Audi's "halo" car. The R8 is their halo car if anything.

Aware of their halo car???? I do not even notice/remember what car that guy was driving...speaking of the message...all I got was that the LED headlights are sooo good...they are worth dying for...

Was this a message?

(And I am the one really liking the A/S7).

Hey, the ad got 10,000 hits on youtube in a week, no other video from Volvo has done so in a while so I am glad this enjoyable clip was put up online.
Stop complaining people, GREAT JOB Volvo

The commercial is good. Sometimes I think Volvo is expecting our customers to read more into a commercial then others.
I do want that XC70 one out there especially showing the AWD off road part. Most people think of it as a flashy or grandma car. We do need to keep up the safety in your face message though. Customers actually ask about safety and why its not in the ads. Especially when everyone else is shouting it.

People are stupid, lazy, and have short attention spans. The commercial was great for all three of these, and it even had stuff for the people that wanted to read into it. The only thing Volvo should have pushed was the GT transmission, as it also fits so well with the first group. :p

And here I thought they were going to promote some safety feature like pedestrian safety with upgraded animal detection at speed and automatically pre-charged emergency braking power. We have a ton of deer and moose collisions every year. It is absolutely frightening when you drive in the mountains and forested areas after dusk to encounter a moose standing in and by the road around the bend. Guess were not there yet with animal detection.

Keeping the kid safe from the wolves ... sure. But it is a bit of a mixed message as the car had to make an emergency stop for the wolf ... then hypes the increased power ... but the wolf was there first ... mmm ;)

Any link with a tv show? I'm lost there.

And also an HD version! How on earth can they still be posting videos in 360p?????

Just saw the little red commercial on ABC. Good thing they aired the long version. Somehow I had missed that longer clip with the Q&A at the end.

Would love to see an HD version of the XC70 video.
