I have 178K miles and was doing an oil change today. I had heard of some folks having oil leaking from the turbo into to intake system so I figured I should check mine. There was a very light coating of oil in the pipe. Is this normal?
Thanks
Stan

Yes especially with a car that has a PCV.

Yes, mine at 118k had a sticky coat of oil from the PCV system from the air filter pipe above the engine through to the throttle body. Cleaning it out one piece at a time. definitely normal.

What you look out for is losing a half a quart or a quart but you have no white smoke out the tailpipe and no leaks anywhere. Then you know it's coming it of the compressor side of the turbo and filling up the intercooler and pipes.

I have noticed some smoke, not tons, in head lights behind me if I floor it to pull out in traffic, especially if I haven't done so in a while. When I floor it again, I don't see the smoke.

Sounds like you are just not driving hard enough.
