Is it legal to have the rear turn signal bulbs white/clear? Today I scraped off the orange paint because it was almost completely flaking off. Also, is there an LED that will fit the rear turn signal? if so what type/number bulb is it for LED? Thanks

I'm fairly certain it is not legal (as it would look like a reverse light) and I am 100% certain that it's really annoying to drive behind...
I looked into doing an LED swap a bit ago. Never got around to it... But, make sure you find some which give a good spread of light.
Also, due to the reduced power draw of LEDs, they usually try to sell you resistors to put in line with the LED to keep your car from giving you bulb-out warnings. These are stupid and get very hot, so you have to find an appropriate place to mount them. But, apparently there are some sort of wedge resistor things plugged into the fuse panel in the trunk which the car compares the bulb resistance to (or something). If you find the right one and the correct part of it, you can drill (a) hole(s) into it to change the resistance (I think) and use LEDs without any sort of extraneous resistors. (I remember reading something about this for, I believe, fixing bulb-out warnings when replacing your headlights with HID bulbs. Hopefully there's more/better information out there on this subject!)
If you didn't read any of that above paragraph, you are probably better-off as this website has pictures and better/more accurate information (But this site is for the HID fix, and you would need to do some magic in the trunk for the LEDs.)

or you can buy a chromed bulb that looks clear until it's light, once lit it will produce an amber light. This way your taillight has that Altezza look but it still legal. And it draws the same amps so no bulb out messages.

So, I pulled them out (no easy feat!) to find that the orange was flaking off (which I had never seen before and just assumed that the glass was colored...Then I yoinked the SilverStar turn signal bulbs from my old car ) But anyway, I'd had been through the same thing as him, and running clear turn signals had never come to mind...
So, I suppose we need to find out if you want your lights to be clear, or if you were just curious if you could leave them as such(?)

You should an orange light for a blinker, whether you have an orange or silver looking bulb is one thing. Look here for all sorts of halogen bulbs, LEDs, all colors, shapes and sizes. Just keep the local laws and safety on mind when you modify your car lighting. You don't want to get a ticket or look like a ricer.
http://www.autolumination.com/

I'm running chrome bulbs in the back. They actually make the housing look cleaner than the reverse housing it's next to!
