When I bought my used '06 in June I noticed that the Nordkap was flaking off on the front seats. The dealer called Volvo to see if it was under warranty (29K miles with Volvo CPO). Volvo said no they would not replace the seats but that they would have the seats redyed.
This process took Volvo several weeks to come to this dissension and for the upholstery people to order the right color dye, however now that the seats have been done I am really pleased with the results!! They look great!!
My question is, can I put lexol conditioner on the redyed seats? It has been two weeks since the upholstery dudes did the work.
The dealer said "I guess its ok" (argg), I would call the upholstery people but they are closed on weekends and I have a bottle of lexol raring to go...
I remember a post long ago where JRL mentioned this but I can't for the life of me find it again, maybe JRL can remember - THANKS.

Conditioner should be no problem, but don't over do it. And if they don't need it....
The cleaner on the other hand would probably not be a good idea (at least for a good while, shouldn't need it anyway.) The cleaner is powerful stuff!

The easy answer is NO
You cannot/should not use Lexol on dyed seats.
My guy has special white stuff he gives me to use just use to condition, for cleaning use mild soap and water

I had issues with my leather seats (yes I bought my R used also 06') and Volvo replaced ALL of my leather interior. Who told you they wouldnt warranty it? Re: Lexol on redyed Nordkap (Elak R)

When I first brought the car to the dealer they said:
"Oh yeah Volvo will never warranty this!! Are you crazy these seats look ok to us. You should look at our loaner cars seats those are worked. This is what happens to the R seats."
I then pressed the issue saying that I had read that some people were getting their Nordkap replaced under warranty and that I wanted them to at least call Volvo. They agreed to call Volvo but again told me "don't expect anything".
Then after a several weeks the dealer called me saying, Volvo would not warranty the seats and that Volvo would prefer me to have the seats redyed.
I probably should have pushed harder for the warranty. I figured the issue was dead due to what the dealer said. In the past this dealer has been really good to me. I have never gotten the sense that they were yanking my crank.

Re: Lexol on redyed Nordkap (850arrrsaylikepirate)

My 2006 R was used by Volvo NA in car shows. It had only 32 miles on it when I bought but both front seats were badly worn on the bolsters. Volvo replaced both front seats covers backs and bottoms. I took so long to get the out of state dealer told me to come get the car and they would send me the last two pieces for the passenger seat. I never replaced the passenger side. The new leather is sitting in a closet in my house.

Re: Lexol on redyed Nordkap (Gonbad)

My guy was here today, I asked and this was his answer;
Yes you can use Lexol on the redyed panel but make sure it's the CONDITIONER only, not the cleaner/conditioner.
he repeated as I said, NEVER USE THE CLEANER on this leather, either OEM or dyed, this would be the fastest way to remove the OEM color, (it just strips it all out)!
Mild soap and water, period then Lexol conditioner
