Greencow, did you have a tweeter there before the boost gauge? If so, does it make a big difference in sound quality?

I did have a tweeter there, yes. I disconnected it, and drove it around for awhile just to make sure it wasn't going to bother me. It didn't, the difference in sound quality is negligible at best. Having the gauge was worth more to me than one tweeter.

For the power or to get the wires into the cabin?

Is there a way to keep the tweeter and still have the gauge pot there?

I found it was simple enough to tie into the light cluster for the power as the location of my pods was close by.

So I finished up my pod and installation yesterday.

After taking apart the A pillar, I realized that the airbag is mostly in the curtain and only tethered to the base of the A pillar. There's also a strap that prevents the pillar from moving more than 2 inches at the top, so mounting a gauge to the base of the pillar shouldn't be an issue at all, so long as it's well secured.

I cut two holes in the pillar and trimmed/mounted a universal pillar pod from the inside. I then bondoed the entire pillar to fill the gaps between the pods and re-enforce the structurally-weakened pillar.

A lot of sanding later, I then covered both pillars in felt.

I then wrapped them in material (I will be replacing my headliner with the same material soon) and mounted everything in the car!

From the Outside:

With the flash on, so you can see the detail:

A while back I removed the material and painted the pillars.
Recently I added the light shields to my gauge pod, then filled in the gaps to make it look solid.

So good. This is inspiring me to start my own project.

Couldn't help but notice that I have the same "Objects In Mirror Are Losing" sticker. :D

NICE! Potentially optimistic or pessimistic speedometer and four circular-gradient-ometers.

I can't tell from the pic, where did you choose to mount it?

Got another project in the mail yesterday.

Transmission Oil Temp and Air/Fuel Ratio gauges

Building a steering column gauge pod for these. This will be a simple design, but the end result should be a clean solution which will still provide full visibility of the factory gauge cluster.

I plan to! It won't be anywhere near as professional as what you built, but it also won't take over 6 months. ;)

Yours is still my favorite setup. I think I could replicate your pod, but not all of the silver details. Plus, I fear that building a dual pod, I wouldn't be able to get both sides perfectly symmetrical. Even off by 1mm would drive me crazy, especially in an area that I frequently glance at...
