Without sounding like a whiner, I just what to keep you great enthusiast updated on the Volvo and SCCA's adustments, they now want to turn our boost down 100mil bar, this to the slowest car on the straights, which they have stated. This is getting much tougher, we are 430lbs heavier than the Porsche and a minimum of 150 + of all others. Enough said, just letting you all know as we get judge on our performance.
So here we go to the Glen, we have spent the time working on the reliability issue like the trans assem, the wastegate, and some others.
We are making good progress I think, we are getting a better handle on set-ups and handling as we get more track time. Our drivers like the cars and we get rave reviews for their looks and quaility of car everywhere we go.
I think there is a great package deal for tickets at the Glen, hope to get to meet some more Volvo person's.

Re: KPAX readies for the Glen (Bob Raub)

Bob, this is nuts. Did they give you any rationale for the "adjustments?" If you weren't based so far away, I think you'd have more fun in the Castrol Canadian Touring Car series. It's only semi-pro, so there ain't much prize money and not much TV coverage, but their rules are set at the start of the season and they rarely make these kinds of "adjustments." Anyway, good luck at the Glen.

It's not like you're running away with the series.
DO a FOTA, just tell them to forget it, rather SHOVE IT, then their field will be 12 -14 cars or so.
You guys need to negotiate a bit better with the SCCA
You're not getting much TV coverage anyway, 3rd rate

Re: KPAX readies for the Glen (JRL)

Just for info, on the Victoria Day weekend when the Speed series was at Mosport the CCTCC had 25 entries in Super Touring and 12 in Touring for a total of 37 cars. Speed GT had 13 and Touring had 11 for a total of 24 cars. And as a note of interest, the Muscle Milk Trans-Am series had 13 cars. Bob, I think you have some bargaining room with the SCCA.

Re: KPAX readies for the Glen (John2x240)

We are not going to threaten SCCA with leaving the series, if logic does not overcome their desire to dummy down the cars to amateur statis, then the inevitable will happen. SCCA needs to show cause, reason and a logical adjustment for any of us competitors to have faith that we are being treated equal. That said they do have a problem on their hands, lack of cars count, also the amount of quaility numbers have dropped, so their balancing act is much tougher.
I think they will need to ride out this tough economy times, because no amount of rule changes or adjustment is going to help much untill the economy, manufactors and sponsors are looking at a better picture.
The biggest problem I think they have, is not loosing site of this GT class as a fast, rip-roaring GT class, lets not take it down to an amateur level just to get one more car, that my 2 cents. Wow I better not let Obama know I have 2 cents or he'll send for it.

The other problem is the TV for this is a joke, they don't even show the entire (short) race!

Bottom line to me is hats off to Jim Haughey for even running Volvo's and thank goodness
that Atspeed does not run them!
The rules and restrictions are not so great but I think the drivers skill
and the AWD can keep things competitive but I agree that losing the straight speed makes it very
tough. Also the coin tosses are hard to take unless they go your way.
Again for me I am just happy to see any Volvo in any competition in the USA, well done!!!
