It was the work of a Swedish-born designer named Mattias Vocks, who just happens to have a pretty cool day job. He builds Koenigseggs. As such, he's obviously more than qualified to deliver one fantastic project car.
Full Story
Re: Koenigsegg's Mattias Vocks Reportedly Building Modern P1800 ([email protected])

Cool. Beautiful grill and front. Very Ferrari-like. Nice proportions. I would set it up a little and use more conventional rubber, but a very very worthwhile effort.
Sometimes things like this actually get built, like the 50th Anniversary retro Corvette someone did.
I am going to go look for that 1967 Amazon.

Seems it is a conversion of a P1800, not a new car. however, volvo has looked at the possibility of bringing back the P1800 in modern guise ie two seat roadster. I think this is definately something volvo should do as sporty cars add an extra dimension and excitment to the brand. Plus, bring back the R series!! Once Volvo is free of Ford they can hopefully bring back the Rs which were a excellent addition to the lineup since the 140s!!! Only gap was the 740 and 940 didnt get Rs. Hopefully Peter Horburys significant influence at Volvo now can help things along
There would be no C30 if he independently and without the board asking, decided to commission proposals for a small 3 door volvo following the buzz generated by the SCC.
There have also been at least three small/city car projects led by him at volvo too. That is also a 'must' new market for volvo.

Re: (Shimon)

I'm loving Vocks' car, but if Volvo is ever going to do their own 1800 redux, they will need to tool up for a kind of production they haven't done since the V90. If Ford parts company with them, they will have no access to pre-exisitng RWD platforms and then must develop their own. $$$! It would be nice for those of us Volvo enthusiasts to have something like this to drool over.
Some time ago, I got the opportunity to do my own interpretation on the chassis measurements of a DB9 in 1/5 scale clay. At the time it was just something I wanted to do to satisfy the requirements of a modeling class. I was building another model simultaneously so I didn't have the opportunity to develop the details as I would have liked, but the shape and form was there. I used one of the old prototypes for the 1800 built by Fissore as guidance and inspiration. It was a fastback with small boot lid that was in line with the surface of the rear window. I felt that prototype had a much smoother and pleasant appearance than the car that made it into production.

Some of the members of this board may remember it. The 4800 GT
