I ordered a replacement key for my 1999 V70 directly from Volvo using the vin number.
The key opens the doors and turns in the ignition and the engine turns over but it will not start or stay running with this new key. It sort of stalls.

My old key still works in doors ignition and the car starts and runs. This sounds crazy but anyone have any experience with this phenomenon?

Hi (( and newer cars have an immobiliser built in to the key in the shap of a chip
the new key that was ordered was cut to your existing key code so that acess would be possible tothe car
the chip in the key however has to be programmed via a software download at a dealer so the car learns the new key
