I have finally installed my K+n typhoon intake to my bsr stage 3 V50 T5. this kit is suppose to "function identically to the factory system" now my car shows "check engine" and seems LESS responsive almost stock like. something went wrong, so my questions,

1) by disconnecting the battery on a bsr'ed car , will the car resume to factory settings when reconnecting the battery?

2) all connections are secure, what else could this be?

I'm assuming #1 to be the case, so any bsr owners out there who disconnected a battery?

thanks in advance

Re: (Nebor)

That's what I thought, but my car doesn't pull nearly as much as before, similar to stock, so this is what I'm assuming what happened. also noticed rough idle, w/ "check engine" light. all connections are fine and this is supposed to operate like stock. I guess , one way to tell take this on the autobahn and if I'm back to the stock 130 mph limiter vs 155 plus. then I'll know.

I'd check the ECU as there is a whole lot of wire, reseat the wires and check all the fittings. When you first toss something on... there are always issues... you can use the BSR PPC to reset the ecu too.

thanks oldman,

I'll do that first thing in the morning , (it's getting late on this side of the ocean) hopefully that'll help. oh, btw, what do you mean by reseting with the ppc? can I use / should I use this this to redownload ? if /or do I need to?

Re: K+N typhoon , BSR questions. (V50_T5)

Check the Mass Airflow sensor and its connection. This is the most likely component IMO, since it needs to be moved to the new airpipe. After that, basically check everything you moved.

The car is probably in "limp home" mode, i.e. no boost and minimal ECU control. If you figure out what signal's missing, it should reset itself.

Definitely not because of disconnecting the battery. And, your BSR tune is intact, but you can check it by hooking up the PPC and seeing if it offers to "Tune car" (i.e. it's stock) or "Return to orig" (i.e. it's tuned).

im almost 100% that something is happening with the MAF, check it or reinstall the stock box.

Re: (Oldman)

OK, I reset my ecu with the ppc to "original " thought it was good after a 10 mile drive but then after starting up again the "check engine" light was on.

bsr confirmed that removing the battery terminals won't affect the program.

everything seems ok, ecu connections ok, all hoses OK, just LESS power and a "check engine " light.

I'm very frustrated now as this did take most of the day to install, while going back to the stock box is an option, that'll be a big waste of time and money. I've have to check that maf sensor. besides that I'm lost.

You're going to have to check it either way. Again - check everything you touched. Little things can make a big difference. Especially look for funky connections and air leaks.

Is the ECU well-grounded in its new location?

Re: (V50_T5)

we are trying to tell you that is not the ecu, its the filter or whatever you put on the car. Oil/Cheap parts always make something on the car. As i TOLD you put back the air box and reset the ECU. Spray some carburator cleaner on the MAF and you will be fine.

Re: (V50_T5)

she runs normal , however I went back to "original " settings , it's going in for the 15,000 mile service on friday(wonder if they'll notice the typhoon intake when doing the oil change?) but after that I'll go back to the stage 3 and I'll let you know.
