I was thinking about getting the K and N intake system, but I do not like oiled filters, due to them possibly gunking MAF's, and I was wondering what filters ccould be placed on the K and N intake system in leiu of the original filter. Thanks.

Re: K&N Intake Filter Options (2006S40T5)

I bought the AMSOil filter. It's a cone filter that doesn't use oil. I'm a preferred member so I bought it at around $35 or so. I haven't installed it yet.
https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/eaau.aspx

Yes, I am definitely interested, but let me get the K&N kit ordered first though. Also, which one fits, and how perfectly does it fit the intake kit? Thanks

Re: (Tarheelvolvo)

Got the AMSOil Filter today and it is a RAM type air-filter with a 3" inner diameter. The nice thing is that is has a chrome top with the middle missing...looks like a doughnut but a filter element in the doughnut hole so it will "RAM" more than the K&N would I imagine. Oh, and its cheaper than then regular K&N filter by like $10 and looks better too! Plus you dont have to worry about oil at all...as in NO OILING THE FILTER!
I "looks" to be a bit shorter than the K&N but the box didnt come till today so I will verify tonight and obviously tomorrow with the install (unless this crapo storm says otherwise )
Ill take plenty of pictures of all the install stuff and let you guys know how it all goes
Edit: Part # is EaAU3051 and the base dimensions are the same but it is 1" shorter overall but I think that is made up for by the fact it has have an open ended design with the top looking like a doughnut. Website for them is here:https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/eaau.aspx so you can get a better idea.
Email me directly if you want one cause I will give you a better price than the website
GB anyone??
