K&N air filter

what kind of performance/gas mileage upgrade will I get if I install one of these air filters on my 1996 Volvo 850 (non-turbo)?

I put a K&N on my 95 GLT n/a 850 and I could actually see and hear a bit of a difference. Of course its not like upgrading to a turbo or supercharger, but its the easiest performance upgrade you can make. I'd suggest getting one. I love mine.
