I have run K&N air filters in my cars for the last 25 years, and have been very pleased with the results. But-- I haven't pulled the trigger on one for my S80 3.2 yet. Since I'm planning to keep this car as long as possible, doe a it make more sense to go with the OEM filter due to its potential for better filtration?

Stick with OEM. Volvo's are not starved of air, stock intake is fine. Unless you heavily mod the car, there is no need for a filter other than OEM.

There is nothing you can do to make that engine better. Just run OEM

Thanks- that confirms my hunch!

Although you may not see any real gains with this "upgrade", you may notice a difference in engine sound. In my experience, replacing the air box with any type of aftermarket "upgrade" results in a nice, low-end growl and makes the engine sound a little more aggressive.
