Just bought a (slightly) used 2008 V8. Wife is loving it. I was searching for awhile and finally found the right one with the right price. The guy that originally ordered this one literally had every option installed - he even had the dealer install RSE. I don't think I have ever seen a Volvo window sticker this high. (Better him than me).
Anyway, I programmed the Homelink system yesterday. All is well, (Craftsman) garage door goes up and down as it should. Here's where it gets strange. If the car is outside and you lock it or unlock it the garage door will go up and down too. This morning my wife opened the driver's side rear door of the car and the garage door when up. She didn't even touch the key fob - she only opened the door. Not sure it matters but the car has the PCC option.
Her previous car (XC70) also had Homelink and no problems. Do you think this a Homelink or a Volvo issue (or a combination of both)?
Aside from this the car is a pleasure to drive (that is when I get to drive it).

Most likely the dealer will have to find out why homelink is triggered w/o pressing the button...

Hopefully just a bizarre lil glitch.
PS - Congrats on the "new" ride!

Re: Just took the plunge - 1st problem (bschurr)

It's now completely reproducable - open a car door and the garage door goes up. Open another car door - the garage door goes down.
Good idea - I think I'm going just clear it all out and just start over. With respect to the PCC and it's whereabouts when this happened it was maybe 10 feet away in the house. That thing has a mind of it's own that's for sure...
Thanks!

How about a pic. of the new ride? Especially of the RSE modules. I've never had the pleasure of seeing that option in a Volvo.

Re: Just took the plunge - 1st problem (madvolvo)

I'll take a few pictures this weekend and post them. It's the barents blue color which wasn't an easy color to find with the V8 for some reason.

Thanks for posting the pics. The car is beautiful (and your photographic skills are pretty darn good too).
Have any of your rear seat passengers used the RSE units? What do they/you think of them?
Drive safely but sprightly in your new ride!

Thanks!
Honestly it must be the camera because it's only the third time I have ever used it - still have to ask my kids how to turn it on.
The kids haven't used the RSE yet. Will report back though once they have.

Is it really hard for older people to use technology? I naturally pick up on things, but it takes my dad forever to figure out how to use something. I remember one time he drove my car, he just got totally frustrated by the GPS because he couldn't type in a destination.
Maybe the older generation has their minds wired differently than my generation?

Re: Just took the plunge - 1st problem (mumpsdba)

Not for certain but I think your PCC unit picked up the rolling code from your garage door opener. I didn't think this was possible. You may have to reset the rolling code at the garage door opener motor unit then re-program your garage door opener remotes then re-program your keyless entry units.
We were programing the new car and our neighbor just happened to drive by and push his garage door opener which grabbed our code. It took us 4 days to figure this out and just about drove us crazy. Every time we would come home our door was open. I was working on it the 4th day when he came home and my door closed. We reset everything and it all works fine now.

Re: Just took the plunge - 1st problem (comp1)

I ended up starting over from scratch. All is well after a full reset. Got to admit it was a bit weird when the garage door would go up just because you opened a car door.
