just discovered this forum.....
Just ordered a white 2.5T, with premium, climate and Navigation, with Taupe leather.
Apparently, this was part of their allocation, and I had time to add the climate and delete the third row (and I had choice of seat colors).
So, not a custom order, but exactly what we wanted, ordered yesterday.
This is for my wife, to complement my black BMW X5 3.0

Gruffster, Where are you getting your car from? Please look at Edmunds.com chat posts for XC90. Post 371 (or close) Volvomax is a Volvo dealer. He says that first deliveries will NOT have nav. I asked this specific question and there were two posts saying that it was not available. Are you absolutely sure that you are getting it? I'd like to talk to your dealership if they KNOW this for a fact....If you really are getting this than good for you! I can't get my dealer to commit to time, date, car or anything else and I'm # 3 on list.

Re: Just ordered...1st week December delivery (sleepless2)

Sleepless...I'm getting the car from Westside Volvo in Cleveland. It was apparently going to be a white 2.5 with third row and premium package. They told me I could still add climate and NAV, and delete the third row. My salesman had to go ask about adding the NAV, and was told (by whom I don't know) that it could still be added. He is telling me delivery 1st week December.
You have me a little worried, since with no NAV they have no deal.
And hey, are you really talking about "settling" for a X5? It is an awesome vehicle. (I've had mine for 2.5 years).

Re: Just ordered...1st week December delivery (gruffster)

Gruffster, Thanks for the quick reply. You are in the same place as me. I will not take without the NAV. Did not mean to "dis" any one on the X5. BMW is of course a leader in the field it is just not my personal first choice. The "settling" comment had to do with frustration on wanting another and yet availability eluding me. I am a solid Lexus fan (we've owned 3) but the Volvo just knocked my socks off and I was prepared to jump. The timing does not seem to be aligned for me and without something more than rumor, dis-information and the good folks on the chat rooms I can't see my way to wait for a special order vehicle to get NAV. Would appreciate any firm info from anyone but I think that may be wishful thinking (there is no firm info. Didn't mean to upset your "high". Actually I'm now thinking about the Lexus GX470 which is due for release on Dec 1. Volvo needs to get off the dime and announce what they are doing...

Re: Just ordered...1st week December delivery (sleepless2)

You guys need to find someone who is going to give you straight answers.
It is still possible to custom-order an XC90 by October 20th and have it delivered by December 16th (provided that you are among the first who have given deposits). WITH or WITHOUT Navigation System. End of story.
Yannis

Yannis. You're the man! My husband took your post to the dealership this morning (re: our special order becoming part of the first allocation) and and the new sales mgr (who started today) let us order the car we wanted. We are one happy couple! Thank you so much for the info.

Not that the Climate Package is a bad feature but I find no use for it in Sunny Orlando, Florida. Yannis?

Clarification:
The XC90s that are already enroute will not have Nav.
The ones that we are ordering now, w/ open LDOC's can have Nav.
Don't believe the early arrival dates however.
Also you must have the climate pkg for the Bi-Xenons because of the headlight washers that are part of the package.
Federal law states that if a car is equipped w/ Xenon lights it must have a way to automatically clean the headlight lenses.
Bi-Xenon is now available
But there are very few since most Volvo Market Managers opted out of that option following an unwritten Company "directive" to keep the amount of options to "minimum".
You might be right about the "early arrival dates" but that would not apply to all cars. There are some cars that are going to be delayed, primarily those who were configured with the T6 Premium Package and about 1,000 very early production cars that are having a hard time with Quality Control.
I have never heard of that Federal Law on Xenon headlamps but you may be right. Plus, those headlamps do not have a glass lens so you can't have wipers on them; they will get scratched.

Yannis

Xenon-equipped European vehicles imported to this country all have self-leveling systems, but American regulations don't require auto-leveling.

-Drew
